What a Dip S**t I am.......
I purchased a used car from a car dealer a few weeks ago to drive to Southern Baja, I have been getting ready and doing other things when I realized I
had not gotten the Title in the mail yet (how dumb of me). Will they check for that at the border? I have called DMV and they are trying to find it
for me to expidite but I am wondering what would happen If I just went with the paperwork I got from the DMV (Purcase info and DMV)

do you have registration? i don't know of anyone who travels anywhere with their car title in possesion. all you need is registration.
edit:i can't think of any time you would be asked for title, except if you were gonna sell it.

what about pulling a trailer that is registered and plated but the plate falls of while traveling? i know it opens up the hand to be greased, but

If the Vin# is stamped on the trailer that should be enough as it is also listed on the registration, otherwise, you got some explainin' to do.

if you bought the vehicle from a dealer then the Report of Sale they posted inside your windshield is your temporary registration.

Ok, thanks for all of your suggestions, I do not have a Temp Reg. All I have is the car dealer bill of sale and a State of Oregon (DMV form) Secure
Odometer Disclosure. Got it on the title, wont show that to anyone!

Heike, these Baja Nomad yahoo's are giving you some very bad advice. If you get into any kind of an accident in Mexico you will be required to show
your drivers license, registration (or title) and Mexican insurance policy. If you are missing any of these three documents, you will spend a great
deal of time sitting in the delegacion while it all gets sorted out. The average Mexican cop has a 6th grade education. If you cannot show anything
that looks, feels and smells like the typical vehicle resistration they are used to (which comes from some state and has a state seal on it), expect
major pain.

Well this nomad yahoo would like to relate a story. The front plate on my pu was stolen. Cops pulled me over. Couldn't find my registration but I had
one for a trailer that I had hauled down. It had my name on it so they just assumed it was for the truck. I didn't have a copy of my title with me
either, nor copy of my insurance.
The cop let me go - no hassles and NO mordida paid.

Here is a friendly hint:
If you have a lost (or possibly stolen) license plate, either report it "LOST" or if you report the plate "STOLEN" park your vehicle until you get a
change of plates at DMV (don't get a replacement plate with the same numbers)..............
If you happen to report the plate stolen, chances are it will be entered into the NCIC system as "STOLEN", which will make life interesting for the
driver of the vehicle when the nice policeman pulls you over...........

Didn't say how long you'd be in Baja or where.
BCN and a short time probably not a problem.
Extended stay and BCS, I'd say have your ducks in a row.

Going to Los Barriles and am not sure how long the car will be there.... I am working with DMV right now to try to speed things up, cross your
fingers. If this does not get resolved by thurs I think I'll try to get something notorized......... or ??
