Here's one for you!

Are the No Smoking Laws in Mexico including Baja or just the mainland?
Anyone know the REAL answer?:?::?:

I agree! Mexico is Mexico! As I get it, it's a Mexico Law!
But--- I ofcourse have people saying it is only for the mainland as they hear it!

it is up to each town or county as to weather it will be enforced or not.

People in Tijuana smoke in bars and restaurants; no ban.

I thought the ban was only in Mexico City.

The ban is nationwide and enforcement in Baja (Norte) just started about a month ago.

Do you KNOW that for SURE?:?::)

It's been in the local newspapers (Ensenada, at least), that certainly doesn't make it it true or for sure. When we were in San Quintin a few weeks ago, we noticed there were no ashtrays on the tables at Jardines, an excellent sign, IMO.

We were at Rice and Beans a while back and Ricardo said it was law and directed the smokers to an outside smoking area...dt

Almost, but not quite

The law is in effect but as yet, not enforced. Agencies responsible for enforcement have not physically informed business owners about the law, enforcement or penalties.

As a retaurant/bar owner, I welcome the new law. But I suspect, as with all Mexican law, it will be highly selectively enforced. Those that can afford to ignore it...will. And those with connections will unfairly force others (competition) to comply.

Such is Mexico. :rolleyes:

In Baja Sur all the places have NO SMOKING signs posted.
In Los Barrlies they have been enforcing the no smoking law since around June.
