Report from the southland. East Cape, Baja Sur.

The first winter winds are two days early to match the revitilazion in the U.S. stock market. Nature hates a vacume and Norbert left behind a big hole so the hole grabbed the Santa Anas and we suddenly got fall. The big marina operation managers thought Norbert might bring lots of rain so they dug two huge drainage ditches from their "Big Dig" which will be our new marina, to the sea, so the rain would not cause flooding in the work area. It must have been bad timing because the storm brought no rain, the tides came in, the flooding took place because of the ditches. Now a nasty brown stain, uncountable tons of silt, lines the beaches here for miles -- shut down all shore fishing for days and days, changed the configuration of many of our beaches.

A local cruiser full of fishing clients in Los Barriles went out to brave the 15 MPH winds that howled down from the NW, caught a dorado on the way out, very close to shore -- as they boated it, they were about to return to the dock -- all the clients were, excuse the expression "chumming" when a reel went off. They fought and landed a 650 lb black marlin. Although the guy in the chair spit up the whole time he was fighting the fish, back on shore at the photo op he said "Was the best day of my life."

Cabo Riviera Hotels/Marina/Golf Courses will host 1,000 invitation only people for a CCR concert here at the jobsite on the 20th of October. I ordered an invite but so far they are on to me and they must know I don't own a yacht. Their goal is to sell marina lots to yachties for $600 dollars a sq. meter. I'd love to go to the gig just to see what kind of boots yachties wear at the mudbowl.

My question:

Is there a mexican equivelent to the US Corp of Army Engineers ??

I have seen several earth moving projects that seem, well, not well thought out.

That's probably CCR without Fogerty. IMO, not worth a listen.
