Orchard RV Park, Mulege

Patches - 10-18-2008 at 08:50 AM

Does anyone know the status of Orchard RV Park in Mulege after the most recent flooding last month? Is it open for camping?

last time we were there which was almost 2 years ago there wasn't any camping, the entire proerty is being developed with casitas. We stayed at Maria Isabelles, it wasn't as nice as the Orchards used to be but it workes.

Mulegemichael is right on, lots of camping south of town, but it you want full hook ups and want to stay close to town you might want to take a look at Ray's Hacienda de Habana RV park. It's about two miles outside of town of Ice House rd.

I also recommend Huerta Don Chano owned by Manuel Romero http://www.huertadonchano.com/ It is on the North River Road, basically across the river from the Orchard RV Park. It's very safe and is only about 1/2 mile from Saul's Tienda which is an excellent grocery/a little bit or everything/ store. The RV park is about a mile from the North beach. It has full hookups.

It's in high resolution on Google Earth. Just look for a big arroyo coming down from the North about half way between town and the beach.

The one negative is that the streets of Mulege are so narrow it can be very intimidating trying to get through there and out to Don Chano's. It might not be worth it for just a day or two of camping. I'm sure Manuel will be glad to escort you through town.

Yea, Ray's is great! Parked on the lush lawn with full RV services, swimming pool, swim up bar, picking fresh fruit off the trees. And that terrific food that Ray cooks up. Yum!

If only they'd do something about that ROAD!!!!

Is Huerta Don Chano manuel's place? The manuel that was security in Orchards for quite sometime and the policia?

I just made the run to Mulege in an RV, and wanted to try Ray's. We had to give up on the road out there- it is terrible. Stayed at Maria Isabelles instead for the full hook ups. That seems to be the only practical place in Mulege if you want full hook up. The north side of the river would be a challenge to get to in a large RV. Mulege could definitely use a full service RV park with good access.

Geo - you didn't want to park and hook'em up at Don J's?
i'd think he'd discount you for hook up if storage rental following?
but then i know DJ doesn't give up much.

Marribel's is a close walk to la Jungla too. that alone is a nice amenity.:saint:

Isn't Custa Real still there? We parked there for a month. Not a lot to offer but close to Jungle Jims and not far from town.

castaway$ - 11-27-2008 at 10:32 AM

Cuesta Real seemed pretty tight for getting any type of RV in and out easily, I don't think i could get my 5th wheel in there unless they have spots I didn't see.

Has the pool at Orchards been completed or is it just another one of those projects you see that will sit half complete forever?

Ask Roberto the HOA.;D It might be in a bylaw somewhere.

we stayed at Maria Isabel's two years ago as the Orchard had only one really ugly campsite. We loved Maria's place.
