Just returned from a fabulous trip down to Campo Beluga on Gonzaga Bay:
-paved road (crossed at San Luis...no wait at all) same as past Spring
-some work completed on pavement past Puertecitos...lots of grading and dirt moving...about a mile or so of extra pavement since Mar
- blew out 2 new shocks (aftermarcket) trying to set a better pace (note to self: need to just remember to enjoy the spectacular view of the coast and
relax!)
- Campo Beluga mini-store is closed, palapas at $20 per night, but flush toilets and showers right next to the sites
-no Pemex at Rancho Grande /Gonzaga...maybe another 2-3 weeks???
- dinner at Alphonsina's is still great and the fishing on the bay was great as well!!

I am going to Beluga in a couple weeks. Please clarify. Is the store there closed down, or was it closed while you were there? The Pemex was closed

Pemex (belongs to Alfonsina's) at Gonzaga Bay had gas on Sept. 1, but was closed for siesta time (late lunch for workers, who eat at Alfonsina's). If
closed, Rancho Grande has gas from their own tank... but check at Alfonsina's first (2 miles away on the beach).
When we camped at Beluga (Feb. '07) the owner said he would be opening a restaurant soon... ? Is there food served at Beluga now?
1) Gonzaga Bay Pemex was manned, but the pumps had no NOZZLES...they said they were finalizing paperwork with Pemex...would be another 10-20 days
2) Campo Beluga mini-mart was closed...the guys that were there at the house, collected $$ for camping...he said market would be open on Sunday, but
was not...we did have daily trash pickup and the showers/ toilets were also cleaned daily...much nicer that the Rancho Grande outhouses (over have had
been blown or knocked over!!)
We used the beach as our route back and forth to Alphonsina's and Rancho Grande...way softer...and only takes about 5 min each way
We had a great time and will return as soon as work allows...maybe late '08 but definitely early '09larry - 10-22-2008 at 04:14 PM
