Shooting in Ensenada today?

Bronco - 10-22-2008 at 06:35 PM

On my front porch today in La Bufadora when a caravan of Army, police and PJG drove by. Slow and looking very serious.
The military with automatic rifle at the ready was in the lead with blue/green police vehicle and then a white pick-up.
Tonight my neighbor said a local police official was cut down in his house in Ensenada???????????? Could not find anything on the web.:?:

Yup- yesterdays news.

Todays news is they killed the son of another former PRI leader outside his Rosarito Beach house on Benito Juarez blvd (right downtown). The ensenda shooting a day earlier was also PRI related- NOT narco-related.

No taco stand customers were killed this time- so their aim is getting better (not that you need to really aim with an AK47)

"Baja politician's son killed outside his house" ROSARITO BEACH:

The son of a prominent, politician was fatally shot outside his house Tuesday night, authorities said. Meanwhile, Baja California Attorney General Rommel Moreno announced yesterday that the state's anti-kidnap ping unit raided a home in southeastern Tijuana and freed a young woman who was kidnapped Friday. Moreno said the woman had been abducted outside a private college in Tijuana. He said the rescue operation occurred about 7 p.m. Tuesday. Three people were arrested and a suspected kidnapper was killed. In Rosarito Beach about 9 p.m. Tuesday, gunmen attacked Jorge Alberto Salceda Mendoza, 31, outside his house on Benito Juarez Boulevard, the city's main thoroughfare, the Attorney General's Office said. Salceda was the son of a former national leader of a farmworkers union associated with the Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI. He was the second son of a politician to be killed this week. On Monday in Mexicali, gunmen shot to death Sixto Sosa Acevedo Jr., whose father is prominent within the state's PRI. Mexican army and navy units arrived in Rosarito Beach on Tuesday to reinforce local security forces.

REPORT FROM ENSENADA

bajaguy - 10-23-2008 at 09:23 PM

As some of you may know, Hose A, a former board moderator has a step-son who is a Baja State Police Officer stationed in Ensenada.

Last night (Wednesday) he and his partner were ambushed.
Even though the partner took a bullet in the head, he managed to call for backup while Hose A's step-son was engaging (polite term for shooting back) the assailants.

Backup arrived from the barracks/hotel in PJs and barefoot with duty belts strapped around the pajamas.

Hose A's step-son was not hurt........The partner is still alive. The head wound cracked his skull but did not penetrate.
Ripped a groove making for a new place to part his hair.
He will be out of it for a while but at this point it seems he will survive.

Hose A's step-son is being sent home for 48 hours on leave.

There were three suspects involved and all three are in custody, condition unknown.

..no further info

The Mexican newspapers have these stories all over the front pages. Scores of Rosarito police have walked off the job in fear. The rest are holed-up in the police stations. They are reporting that Rosarito police patrol cars are actually abandoned in the streets. The newspapers say the hitmen are actively hunting the police and ambushing them. Another 5 or so were killed in Rosarito today. There was a shoot-out at the "El Granero" veterinary clinic on Benito Juárez and they say there are 3 bodies inside, including a child and one laying outside. There were three seperate shoot-outs within 5 hours today.

Rosarito Mayor Hugo Torres is busy drafting a press release blaming US press sensationalism for all the problems, including the lack of business at his hotel.

Hose A, I am sooooo sorry about your son. If you need help for him or his partner, please, let me know. Hospital, or, a place to stay. U2U me. With us, or, I have some friends.

I know you don't feel this way right now, but, your family is what makes Baja great. I wish the U.S. media would recognize the heroes like your son, and, you.

It reminds me of the F.B.I.'s fight against the Mafia during Prohibition. The drug they were smuggling then was alcohol. They ended up killing each other. I only hope there aren't many more innocents caught in the cross-fire.

p.s. I love Tijuana.

Alguna vez. Cuidado.

On Monday morning I was crossing at Otay. At the left turn off the airport road, there were a couple of Humvees and several combat personell in full battle dress. Including the black masks to pervent them from being identified by the bad guys. The combat troops were fanned out and in the ready position.
Others were serching a car. I think this is the general area where bodies have been found recently.
Hardcore stuff. It didn't bother me and life was going on fairly normal in the area which is very busy.
So expect to see that kind of thing if you go down for a visit.

..and this is why we stay prisoners in our houses in Rosarito Beach these days. Torres is busy trying to get Americans to drive down- but the locals are too scared to go outdoors. Now I hear the policemen are too.
