the weather will be perfect, about 95,, very low humidity,,
what I remember of the roads back then , it was just very narrow and alot of pot holes,, the picture was a Totuava that me and my dad caught, we landed 3 that day, the little skiff was of wood very little free broad. we used live bait,, which we caught just off shore, we used a big wash tub as a bait receiver, what we used was corvina,, the beach where we landed would be now Rubens camp, just north of town, the only thing there was a little open air palapa bar and restruant,, we camped on the beach, san felipe as you can guess was very small, really not much in town,, but always remember the people was so very friendly

Anyone from Yuma can't be all bad!:lol::lol:
My introduction to California 65 years ago was down the tracks a ways at Amos, 47 miles northwest.

Welcome to Baja Nomads. Sounds like you might be old enough to have known my uncle Jack Terry who owned Yuma Auto Supply for 25+ years and was one of the guys that built the first dune buggys in the late forties.

Awesome photo.

duke62 - 10-31-2008 at 11:02 PM

Ken y Jane.

As a new person myself, all I can tell you both is, if you have a legitimate question, story, trip report, or, beautiful picture of something in Baja, you will fit in and find the Nomads to be an incredible group of people (I am hoping to fit in to one of those categories at some point; Hint, hint: Doing construction on a patio on the shack/home we bought South of Erendira for $8,000 [I know, it is a lease]).

The people on this site that love Baja are the best. Truly.

Hola Ken and Jane. Pleased to meet you and welcome to Nomads. Looking forward to reading about your Baja experiences...past and present.

In in the Coyote Bay area, please stop by for a cold one and a visit. I'm a bit of an oldtimer, too. Saludos..

As the others have already said welcome to a great site with a lot of information if asked for. I live just west of you guys in Brawley and this week is "Cattle Call Rodeo Week." I will miss it this year as I am going east to "The Rock" on a motorcycle run and plan to pop a few, ok a lot, of cold ones once there. I will be staying at the Puerto Penasco del Sol and will get some photos to show. Hopefully, we will meet up sometime. Later------ bajafun777
