volaris airline from TJ

hdn2mx - 10-26-2008 at 06:13 PM

Just curious if anyone has utilized this airline (Volaris) from TJ to LaPaz or Los Cabos. It's way cheaper than Alaska Air right now. Also curious about their shuttle service from San Diego to TJ airport and the return shuttle trip from TJ back to San Diego. Or has anybody left their car at the TJ airport lately and knows how much they charge per day?
Any problems with booking flights on the internet?
Any info would be appreciated regarding Volaris ?????

Thanks RT

GREAT AIRLINE. I FLEW TO CABO LAST MONTH ON VOLARIS AND I LIKED IT BETTER THAN AREOMEXICO.

If you are in Huntington Beach take the train to San Diego and there will be a Volaris bus that will take you to the airport (TJ) and a return trip to the station in SD. There is a charge but it's not much.

The airport parking fee was $16.00 per day at TJ and it's probably more now. Last time I parked there it was a few years ago.

If you need help booking u2u me and I will help you.

Good luck!

RT - there is info about this topic in this same section (Questions and Answers) - keep scrolling down to the thread about "Flying TIJ-LAP, immigration" and there is discussion about Volaris flights and the shuttle also.

I've also flown Volaris three times now. Only problem was with latest internet booking trying to use US Visa card (they accept AmEx). Other than that, the shuttle from Santa Fe Depot downtown to TJ and back is a snap. Forget the parking at TJ airport. It's $16USD per day. The Volaris shuttle is $15USD each way. U2U me if you need more info.

I've read a few comments on tripadvisor about problems with missing the shuttle coming back from TJ to the US because of flight delays by Volaris. Apparently, if you miss the shuttle, you might have to wait 2-3 hours for the next one headed to SD.

If the internet site is not accepting visa and mc, is there another way to book a flight. Direct through the airline via phone?

You can book via phone, but the rates are higher and you still have to have some way to pay for the flight. My experience with the denial of US bank credit cards occurred about three weeks ago, so that may not be the case today. Also, regarding shuttle schedules, I was told by the Volaris rep that the shuttles to San Diego run every hour on the half hour. However I don't know if this is daytime only, or 24/7. The shuttle left TJ promptly at 2:30 as I was told it would, when I flew back last week.

We used them in the summer TJ to Ciudad Juarez. Booked online no problem and the fight was on time. Nice airline.

We did the TJ to Ciudad Juarez this summer too, but on Alma de Mexico. Flights were cheaper than Volaris. Alma also has a TJ to La Paz flight, I'd compare this to Volaris and see where the better deal is.
My sis works for Alaska Airlines, so I usually find the best deals with them (flying space available gets kind of tricky, though!). H.

We flew on Volaris from TJ to La Paz last Thursday, returned yesterday. No problems, nice planes and on time. We left our car at the TJ airport, the longterm parking rate is 175 pesos per day. This worked out to about $13.50 a day.
