Guaymas to Santa Rosalia on Nov 1 Operating?

LianeR - 10-29-2008 at 10:42 AM

Currently in Phoenix. We were planning on taking the Guaymas to Santa Rosalia ferry on Saturday, Nov 1. Realized this is 'Day of the Dead' and wonder if the ferry would even be running.

Tried contacting their US contact in Nogales...number no longer valid. Tried emailing the Ferry direct from their website...email addy invalid.

Anybody know if it's even running?

Thanks
Liane

You can call Guaymas to check for sure, but they run even on Christmas and New Years day. The weather, while not a yellow flag alert is showing 3-4 foot seas so it promises to be a little rough and bouncy. If you are sensitive to sea-sicknesss you might want to make sure you have some medication as this is a smaller ship.

wind and heavy truck traffic is all that will mess up your plans/

If ferry down...cross at Mexicali??

LianeR - 10-29-2008 at 01:19 PM

Okay...we will check the 'seas' before heading to Guaymas since it sounds like the weather is iffy. The website mentioned bounces back email..and per another agent this morning they are changing their schedules. We'd hate to get stuck there for a few more days...

Other option is to drive to Mexicali and cross the border. Has anybody here done this and gone over to Tecate and driven down on hwy 3....or would it be better to go our usual route thro Otay Mesa?

Thanks again,
Liane

Ferry might be scary. Halloween, you know. :o:lol:

Cross at Tecate, drive thru the wine country, enjoy the drive. No seasickness there. And the road is in good shape.

The highway down from the border is in excellent condition, a couple of places with new construction, but in overall excellent condition.

Enjoy the trip!

Did you ever end up taking the Ferry? If so let me know how that went.
