I presume you have a copy of Harry Crosby's "The Kings Highway in Baja California". If not, get it as it has info on the ECR. Also a Crosby article and maps of the ECR are on line at:
http://www.sandiegohistory.org/journal/77winter/baja.htm

Good traces of the ECR around San Ignacio and north of La Purisima.

San Borja is a little north but has a lot of "must see". The ECR south is readily visible and guids are very good (Jose or son at the house next door to the Mission).

If you are going to be in San Ignacio go to the mission and walk up the stairs to the mission, the walk along the right side of the building to the end and you will be at a door. The gentleman that lives there has studied Baja mission for a lot of years. I have sat and had coffee with him many times, I see him at least twice a year and he is happy to share info with you. u2u me if you have questions

Hi Amy and welcome to Baja Nomad!

For some basic info and photos of the missions and many vistas in Baja: http://vivabaja.com/bajamissions

To find the El Camino Real (with the Baja Almanac map book) and see the first 'modern' maps of its location in Baja drawn by Howard Gulick some 50+ years ago: http://vivabaja.com/ECR

See Neal Johns' link to Harry Crosby's web page of newer (1977) El Camino Real locator maps...

Also, go to http://www.wikimapia.org and zoom in on the mission sites and El Camino Real routes and see where I have placed marks on them or outlined sections of the mission trail!

Myself and the other Baja Nomads are here to help you find adventure and fun on the California peninsula!
