It had been over a year since I'd been in La Paz. When I visited last May I was of course aware of the ongoing construction at the Paraiso del Mar
site, but I'd managed to put it out of my mind.... until the sun began to set. The changing light seemed to move it closer to shore and it suddenly
loomed large in the midst of sunset!

As I walked along the Malecon, I came upon some marvelous sand sculptures. This seemed to me to be the Lord of the Beach - and he was no happier
about the blight on the horizon than was I.

I wandered on for awhile, deciding to enjoy the wonderful statues. This is one of my favorites.

When I left La Paz, the Paraiso info booth at the airport was closed - something I'd not seen before. And now, months later, I'm wondering about this
project. Is it still growing? Do we know anyone who's considering living there? Anyone been out to take pictures? Any information is appreciated.

The blight is still there....we need just one big hurricane & it'll be looming even larger on the malecon...RIGHT ON THE MALECON!

Looks like a lot of new construction since we left in June. Next will be the bridge.
I am amazed at the number of people we met last winter that had purchased houses on El Mogote. I really wanted to ask them, "What were you thinking?"
When I look at the statues along the malecon, I always cringe to see lightweight, flimsy lighting installed. I would guess that the light pictured
lasted about 3 days or less.
Will be back home in La Paz next weekend.

BMG - That light was good as broke when I was there. Little bit of it pointed at bottom of statue, very dim. Light on the posted picture is from
external flash held at a lucky angle.
And they're going to build a bridge out to 'paradise'? Oh that will be
nice.
Guess that's the one going to be by gnukid's house?
