We made it!!!! Just trying to get settled in and our biggest job right now seems to be getting a handle on the ants nests that seem to have taken
over our yard
Trip from B.C. to San Diego was the same as always... we would have made it a day earlier if it wasn't for Fred's frequent need for coffee. Seems
every exit we tried was the only one that did not have a starbucks!!!!
Crossed the border at TJ around noon on Tues. It was very busy. We pulled into secondary and walk into the customs to get our FM3 stamped. This was
the first time we actually had to stop on the way out and push the "red/green" light. We got red and they just waved us thru.
We pushed thru the last hour of driving in the near dark. Road work north of El Rosario (aprox 10km). Everything well marked and there was little
traffic.
Our stay at Baja Cactus was as great as ever. Very quiet... probably only 4-5 rooms booked. We were in 202 this time, one queen bed.
Coffee at Baja's Best Wed am. Once again, the place was empty.
More road work about 30-40 km south of El Rosario. Very sharp steep shoulders. I would not have wanted to be pulling or driving anything wider than
our van

Arrived at San Ignacio B&B in time for a swim and kayak down to the springs. Great dinner with Terry and Gary who are enjoying a bit of quieter
season. (Breakfast was enough to satisfy us until we got to Loreto)
They have 2 new yurts that are deluxe. One of them has a lovely hot tub and both are located near the river. Lovely patio's as well.
Left San Ignacio at 8:30 and had a brief drive thru Mulege. Where is everyone???? Stopped at El Requeson for a swim. The water is fabulous!!
There 2 groups camped. La Perla was deserted.
Stopped for taco's at Lulu's. Fabulous! 2 fish taco, 2 camarones and 2 cervesa. 110 pesos.
Stopped at Constitution for a great frappe and used the internet. I think the name of the coffee shop is Baja Star. Very clean. The main street is
totally torn apart so I am sure the local policia are missing hitting the "foreigners" up for making illegal turns!!!!
The desert between Constitution is incredible. It looks lush and green. Road was in great shape. Pulled into LaPaz as it was getting dark and once
more took a chance driving in the dark. Major road building going on between the turn off for Los Barrilles and TS. We drove slowly and stayed with
a group of 3 other cars that seemed to know the road. Surely not recommended but we were really needing to get home
Grateful for another safe trip and the old Westy did not let us down!!!

I would like to add that most of the construction in the north she is reporting, they are widening the road.

I enjoyed the report, but I count three or four days traveling time - not six. I too am jealous. That trip is a once every few years sort of thing for
me, but I do get to do it this winter.

We actually spent 3 nights in State side and 2 nights in Baja... 5 nights and 6 days!!
I did forget one very interesting event. After we drove into TJ... at the top of the hill where you merge to the right... there was a HUGE traffic
jam. We sat for about 30 min slowly inching ahead. We thought there must have been an accident. There were police that were directing traffic when
we finally got close to the over pass. Still could not see what the problem was until we were under the over pass. There were several men "over
seeing" a lone Mexican who was painting the wall of the over pass ( with a paint brush....) We had a good chuckle and said " we are finally in
Mexico"!!!!!
