since I offer to house bicyclists (through Warm Showers.org and the interest of my sister/brother in law who are riders but have visited and would
never consider Mex 1 as a viable road trip) and am the only bicycle contact I think in BCS, I continue to get questions that confound me. the latest
leaves me scratching my head, but thought I'd ask for local conditions here before just saying...NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! heck, maybe it is possible...
I have been asked if the following routes are bike accessible. they don't care about dirt roads per se but say sand "could be an issue."
Mex 1 to San Ignacio out the road towards Laguna San Ignacio then on to San Juanico and ultimately Insurgentes.
or
Rosarito to San Isido/Comundo/Farnsisco Villa Insurgentes.
thank you in advance for just sticking to the question. Roberta

There are some sand issues depending on previous traffic after you turn south at the Laguna. Just means you'd have to do some walking. The inland
route goes thru silt beds but they are usually only a problem after a race and a wash. Once you get to El Cuarenta it's the graded road again. The
costal route turns into a sand road before rejoining the main graded road, I think this route has more soft sand to deal with for a longer section.
