What are the best taco stands in Rosarito

kaijuz - 11-4-2008 at 10:56 AM

We're traveling to the Rosarito area this weekend, and we don't know Rosarito at all. Where are the best taco stands?

Tacos Yaqui

Taqueria 2000

Someone else will have to give you directions.

I also would say Tacos Yaqui, hands down! Order a "peronie" you will get a loaded carne asada taco that will knock your socks off. Actually, get two of them. They are open until they cook up all the meat for the day. You can find this place on the far South end of town, one block East of the main drag. Plenty of parking in front and the corner across the street to the North.

If you want fish or shrimp tacos go to Tacos Baja Jr. Their specialty is Queserones (awesome) They are located just south of Rosarito.Get off toll road at AM/PM and they are on right (beach side) about 1/4 mile south...big blue sign. You won't be sorry!!!!!!!

Tacos el Yaqui is right HERE: Tacos el Yaqui from space

The Perón super taco (carne asada, cheese, salsa, beans) is awesome!

Thanks David for that excellent map of downtown Rosarito Beach.

Now I can find everything. :D

Best Tacos al Pastor in Rosarito?

My favorite at the moment is Tacos Puebla in Primo Tapia, (actually they are Tacos Adobada because there is an onion on top of the marinated, sliced meat cone, instead of the traditional pineapple).

Tacos Manuel, the big one midtown between Waldos and McDonalds is OK, but if anyone knows of a secret gem, I sure would like to hear about it.

Jan,

You are right about Manuel's one block away from Mc Donalds, same side of street.

For the most fantastic Fish Tacos, Mariscos Alegria in Primo Tapia.

On your recommendation I tried Mariscos Alegria. Good... but because pieces were large they were a bit overcooked. I think if they cut them in half and cooked them less they would be more tender. You certainly get a good deal for the price, though. My personal favorite in Primo Tapia is the truck near the Penas lumber yard. The name escapes me.

But my favorite are the stands near the fish market in Ensenada. I love all the different condiments they offer.

For Fish/ Shrimp Tacos in Primo Tapia

and Shrimp quesarones, Carne Asada tacoss or quesadillas or cahuamata (fish soup); I really like Tacos Cantamar, next to the Pemex station in Cantamar.

Is Rubens still around? That place had a great fish taco!

If you are in TJ, check out - Tacos el Gordo, Tacos Fitos. Both are wonderful.

The rule of thumb I was given (by a gringo) on my first visit to Rosarito still seems to hold true today. Walk past the places with Gringos in line, and go straight to the stands where the Mexicans are eating!
