Featuring Baja Clouds

DianaT - 11-4-2008 at 01:40 PM

I love clouds and we don't have them too often around here. These were around, however, right after sunset last week.

I hope others have pictures of Baja Clouds to share.

All the photos of clouds are nice---agree that the color in Big Woos is quite different and quite nice.

Curious, however, does anyone else take pictures of just clouds without anything else in the picture?

No land, no ocean, no truck, nothing, or am I the only one with my head too much in the clouds?:lol:

Diane

David K - 11-5-2008 at 06:38 PM

No truck in a photo??? Surely you jest!!:lol::cool:

Thank you guys for the compliment...That was a very different sunrise, probably because of all the moisture still in the air after the storm. I've never seen colors like that since.

As far as cloud only pictures...I don't have one picture of just clouds...of course I could cheat and crop everything else out

astrobaja - 11-5-2008 at 08:58 PM

Awesome pics! Underscores the beautiful elemental vistas here in Baja!
I have a pic of some really weird lenticular clouds taken from Meling ranch I'll try to find em!

schwlind - 11-6-2008 at 12:21 AM

Awesome photos... them all... and sadly one, we should never forget...

Thanks!

Cypress - 11-6-2008 at 11:18 AM

schwlind, You expressed my thoughts perfectly! :bounce: Keep the pictures coming!

Barry A. - 11-6-2008 at 11:44 AM

PabloS----------I don't mean to be picky, but isn't your pic taken in Borrego Springs??? (Love that place.)

All the pics of "clowds" are outstanding. Thanks for this thread, Diane.

No, no cheating. Most cloud pictures, IMHO, need an anchor with them, but once in a while, I see some that seem to want to stand alone, IMHO.

OK, so let's see some more Baja Clouds, anchor or no anchor.

And, yes I posted this one before, but it is still one of my favorites taken in Bahia Asuncion---Fuji film sky and all.

I like your last one, Diane.... I'm partial to those lavender pink colors.

BigWooo - 11-7-2008 at 03:12 PM

I like everyone's pictures, but I've got to admit Russ's is pretty awesome!

Russ - 11-7-2008 at 03:19 PM

I grew up at the beach (West coast) and now I'm facing the wrong way over the water. I really miss those Pacific sunsets! And the noise of the waves. Anyone want to trade? All your pics are really nice to just look at and daydream.

Natalie Ann - 11-7-2008 at 03:40 PM

Sure, Russ, I'm up for a trade.

You take my place for a coupla weeks - you can even have the time period when the sun sets right behind the Golden Gate Bridge. Sit out back, drink your margarita, enjoy all those sunsets....

... but ya gotta let me be enjoying the sunrises in from your place in Punta Chivato.;D::lol::dudette:

Nena

p.s. Oh? You meant someone in Baja?!:P

I think it's a matter of perspective. Although we love the sound of the waves, when we're at our place and go for walks inland, we always comment about how peaceful and quiet it is.

I think I like sunrises over water better. I like getting up early to watch it progress from a thin red line under a dark starry sky to the bright disk popping over the horizon.

Back to clouds...I found two more. Seems all my cloud pics are consequential to a sunrise or sunset photo. That exhausts my library of halfway decent cloud pictures...just have to go back down and get more!

Thanks Nena,

The two pictures are of the same sky---I just played around with where I exposed the shot----I also like the second one best.

The variety of clouds in the different pictures are really awesome---hope there are more to see.

astrobaja - 11-10-2008 at 03:47 PM

Hi all,
Muy chilo pics!!

Heres one I took this spring at Rancho Meling, very weird looking clouds, I think they are known as lenticular clouds.
I think the "motherships" make em to hide behind!

I like that last shot very much, Russ.... the shadows and the light.

And yes, it is too cold here.... why do you think I tried to get you to trade?!:P;D:dudette:

Ken Bondy - 11-10-2008 at 08:03 PM

Igor that is FANTASTIC. The water is like a perfect mirror. GREAT shot. Where is it?

tripledigitken - 11-10-2008 at 08:17 PM

Very creative shot Igor!

Ken

Skipjack Joe - 11-10-2008 at 08:27 PM

Thanks, Ken. That was Lake Davis.

I posted it because most baja fishermen see this every morning on the way to the fishing grounds. Whether it's Conception Bay or Laguna Manuela. You raise your eyes, look over the nose of your boat, and feel so great to be alive.

Natalie Ann - 11-10-2008 at 08:30 PM

What a feeling! That's one outstanding cloud picture, Igor... thank you!

Nena

Skipjack Joe - 11-10-2008 at 08:37 PM

Yes, I suppose it is creative, Ken. But when I took it I was just moved by the moment. I have since seen images like this in some of those glossy fishing magazines but I can honestly say that I had never seen one like it prior to this one (1994) and was not influenced by them.

I have one I took over 30 years ago that I've never grown tired of. Maybe I'll get it scanned.

Thank you for the compliment, Nena.

Wow to all of you! Beautiful. Those first two of Russ' makes a believer out of me. I expect to see the traditional image of God; old man in flowing white robe, long white hair and beard, arms outstretched with palms upward, looming almost as big as the sky itself, saying "Come my children, the time has come".

After seeing those photos I am packing my bags. Oh, I'm bringing my camera along too.:wow::saint:

Tony, in the interests of saving at least one SF-area sinner, I offer this Hubble 'cloud' photo to further inspire you.

My son, it's not too late to come back from the Dark Side. ;D

Sorry it took me so long, Rog. I've been hiding under the bed. While beautiful, that cloud scares me. :o:o
