Hi there! I've been looking around your boards and really like what I see here.
Last November (2007), my SO and I were on a cruise and had a horribly short stay in Cabo San Lucas, but just LOVED it...so this year, we are coming
down for a week and staying at Club Solaris in San Jose Del Cabo.
We plan on doing alot of exploring, since we've already decided that we want to move to that area when we retire.
I would appreciate any little-known but must-see recommendations in the area, so figured I should ask the experts! We plan on going into Cabo San
Lucas for a day or two, but think we'll enjoy San Jose quite a bit too.
I've seen a couple of posts about early whale sitings, so I'm REALLY hoping that we'll have the opportunity to see some whales! gizmogram - 11-7-2008 at 07:51 PM

May I be the first to WELCOME you to Nomad land! You will find lots of interesting responses to your posts. Most of us enjoy the smaller towns of
Baja, but there are some that like what you are talking about, not many. Take some time to rent a car/jeep and take the loop through the La Paz area,
for sure. Visit Todos Santos... and some other small villages along the way.

a warm welcome to this whacy and wonderful nomad community....or some liken it to a campfire! I too had my first baja experience in Cabo when we made
landfall there on a sailboat in 1979 and got the baja bug!
Over the years on this board we have made many many lifelong friends, so do take these nomads up on their offer when they invite you into their hearts

Yes, Judy is right... I was thinking more for when you move there, as you mentioned... Just a week you will be busy just seeing the cape region, south

Excellent advice! Seeing a place on vacation for a few days is not the same as living there. I tell folks that it is a good idea to spend at least a

gizmogram, It's all good down in Baja, but it gets better the further away you get from the tourist centers, airports etc. Yep! The Sun has deserted the Pacific Northwest, will be below freezing pretty soon,

We do plan on spending several vacations down there before deciding on where to settle.
Considering I spent 25 years in Reno and then here, in a tourist town on the Oregon Coast, I'm definitely interested in getting away from the tourist
aspect - it's always nice to know, however, that if there's a particular item you want for a gift or your home, it can probably be obtained for less
money from a street vendor!
When we were on our cruise last year, we visited a couple of out-of-the-way towns outside of Mazatlan and just fell in love with the countryside and
the people. And of course, the weather!
And although we spent very little time in Cabo, I can definitely see liking the peninsula more than destinations inland. I look forward to exploring
it.
Because we aren't into the touristy things, we're more interested in walking tours, hikes, etc. We've looked into many of the surrounding
walking-tours, like the estuary, etc, and am looking forward to it.

Zippers is a great place for lunch, right on the water(one of the few)and the food is very good. We usually get fish and chips or beer batter shrimp
or, if in need of an american fix, a pastrami, or maybe it is corned beef, sandwich. The lobster burrito is excellent. The only thing that I have
