I will be traveling down Baja in mid January, our first stop will be EL ROSARIO, NEXT GUERRERO NEGRO, THEN MULEGE, THEN LORETO, THEN LA PAZ, THEN
CABO.
I need to know the names of places in each of the above towns, phone #s e- mails if possible, and more than one choice / town that you reccomend,
approx prices, and that they will take our dog, We would like to spend no more than$50.00 or $60.00 tops / night.

Malarrimo Hotel, RV Park & Restaurant in Guerrero Negro, BCS - $45 per night for a single(last May), nice, clean room, good food, full bar,
motorcycle friendly.
Will definitely stay there next May when I ride down & back. Even had a large bird-of-prey nesting nearby that was making its presence known -
very cool.
Not sure about them getting along with dogs. I dated one back in high school, but have avoided them since.

El Rosario - Baja Cactus Hotel, was around $35 USD when we last stayed there - some info on this webpage, scroll down a ways... http://www.bajaexpo.com/cities/elrosario.html. They would not accept pets, but why not let him or her sleep in a kennel in your car?
We ate breakfast at Mama Espinozas and had a good meal but read an earlier thread on BN for others experiences of getting very ill - and I think a few
nomads recommended other places to eat near-by but I can't remember the names or locations.

Welcome aboard! Definitely the Baja Cactus in El Rosario (not sure about the dog there), and ask Shari, on this forum, for suggestions, she knows of
what she speaks. I highly suggest you check out Bahia Asuncion. In Mullege, I think it's called the "Casita" motel and restaurant that we stay at
and they take dogs.

Baja Cactus Motel -- One time a very kind receptionist let us keep our dog in the room - the second time we were turned away by a different person
(after more new construction was completed, may be the reason...). Am assuming the policy now is no pets, but it may just depend on the day and
person who is working...

Without a doubt Baja Cactus in El Rosario...in GN, Posda Don vicente is cheap and clean and I would just sneak the dog in...you can park in front of
your room....or Los Caracoles who have a special dog room....this will be during whale season so some hotels might be busy. I hear the hotel up on the
hill in Mulege is cheap and nice but never stayed there. have a great trip

Absolutely concur on Baja Cactus in El Rosario.
Best for the buck in GN is Posada de Don Vicente. No others qualify!
Really short trip between GN and Mulege, suggest pressing on to Loreto. Only about a 6 hour drive. Someone suggest for there.
Need experts from La Paz for their suggestions.

Unless you have a whale watching trip there, pass Guerrero Negro for the night and go directly to San Ignacio and stay at Ignacio Springs Bed &
Breakfast http://www.ignaciosprings.com Even if you don't overnight in San Ignacio, be sure to take the side road into town... One the the gems of the
peninsula, for sure! El Rosario to San Ignacio is 316 miles.
The Iguana Inn in Loreto always gets high praises here...

Coco Cabanas is another affordable spot in Loreto. Try Koko Changs for a good chinese dinner. Its right across from the marina.

I hope Baja Cactus has not changed their dog policy. I have stayed there many times and they all know my big dog, Paco. They also know he sleeps on
the floor; never on the bed. He kept a vigil there for 72 hours while I was so sick from food poisoning at (guess where).

We stayed at Baja's Best B&B last time through El Rosario with our dog and 2 cats. Nice room, nice people, decent food and a fair price, about $60
with breakfast. They also have their own pets to keep yours company. We'll stay there again.
Stayed at the Plaza Loreto. They said no pets but we were able to talk them into it. Nice place, we usually stay there when in Loreto, about $58 I
think.....dt

Thank all of you for your input, great site for people to find information that is so important for the average traveler, do you realize how this
world would funtion If all were like the people on this site that goes out of the way to give information.
But, I as well as you know people are not willing to take time from their busy schedule to help anyone, that is why we have problems all over the
world, thanks again and hopefully some more people will give me places to stay.
My Dog is a LARGE CHOCOLATE LAB that is 9.5 years old, and I admit very spoiled but a great dog and a companion, he will not sleep in the truck by
himself. oh well.

Just say the secret word 'Antonio' at Baja Cactus... they may call Antonio on his phone if he is not there... Say you are a Baja Nomad member...
Antonio has said dogs in room only if you can promiss that they stay off the bed... Discover Baja members get a discount as well... but the room is
already (too) cheap for the quality!

Baja Cactus has two classes of rooms,
the older ones down in front, which we always book coming back from our "grubby" trips are the commercial ones, and plenty good enough.
I am guessing that the pooch would be welcome there.
The newer rooms above probably not so dog appreciated....
just my guess.

Things may have changed, but Antonio told me as long as the dogs stay off the bed, he was fine with them. Now, I am hoping people are thinking of
indoor dogs that are treated like people and not junk yard gaurd dogs that normally stay outdoors... Again, perhaps someone couldn't be satisfied with
the rules and they found dog hairs on the bed and ended that privilage?
