Of the gazzilion or so billboards going south from TJ to reality, a very large percentage say disponible, or available. Many more say nothing at all.
Some are just bare framework. Construction is slowing all along that stretch, and evidently sales are also.
Last night I was the sole diner in a place that can seat half a hundred.
When I arrived yesterday after being gone two months longer than the one I intended, I discovered that all the copper plumbing had been removed from
the house. I can tell you it costs a lot more to replace than the twits ever could have gotten for it.
If the great development surge were to continue to sag it would not much trouble me, but some of the fallout may be harsh. Unemployed construction
workers far from home and drug dependent can quickly affect a community for the worse. People who went into debt to launch businesses dependent on big
growth may find themselves much worse off than when they were just scratching by.
On the upside, they still can afford to party; another DUI crashed into the front gate and broke off both of the concrete posts. That's 5 DUIs that
have plowed into one or the other of our two houses in the past two years.
