Puerto La Salina

Does anyone know about when they began the project known as Puerto La Salina on the north Pacific coast of Baja California?

I'd be guessing but 8-9 years ago. I think the marina opened in late '01

Oh well....Here today, gone tomorrow. (I don't really think that way, just in case someone were to take me seriously).
Do any Nomads keep a boat there. It looks good from the highway.

I drive by the place about every three-four weeks on the way to Ensenada.
Many houses were built and are still being built, but the majority of them are built on the bluff just south of the marina.
They didn't do a very good job in building the jetty because there seems to be a constant on-going dredging job. Plus the lake from the east side also brings in silt. It appears that they are trying to block the silt from coming into the marina by daming it up. I guess they'll turn the lake into a mosquito breeding ground.
The marina has many large boats now and it looks like it's being used as the staging ground for expensive boat deliveries to Califrnia residents who do not wish to pay the CA sales tax.
Hope this help you George.

I recall 15-20 years ago seeing a grand display at Bajamar with a 10 foot long small scale model showing the whole area and it's eventual development. It was done by the same company that developed Nuevo Vallarta and they had just piurcahsed the golf course and had big plans. The model showed the toll road having a very high bridge going over the marina with many slips and fancy homes on the east side of the current area (lake that you see know will be slips?). It also showed the all new Calafia Race Track on the east side of the highway adjacent to Bajamar, if you look close you can see where they had started to dig a big hole in the ground where the track was to be located. They showed major development from Bajamar north to La Salina including 18 more holes of golf and condos as far as the eye could see, it was a very impressive deal. I remember we had free drinks and appetizers after golf and they had real cute spokesmodels with big pairs of .....eyes.... handing out glossy brochures. The model showed an airstrip and a hospital and shopping center and movie theatre and schools and..........I distinctly recall the plan was to have it all done in 7 years.

I recall seeing a report in recent years showing that the position of the marina entrance relative to the prevailing current/tide/wind/swell and the huge amount of upcoast/current sand quantities would mean constant dredging for eternity or until all the sand was gone from the beaches north. Can you say Santa Rosalalita? I can't spell it.

filled in sand and right next to the SEMPRA plant. The whole thing could blow up one day.

The marina built an additional breakwater to the north of the channel. Juts out west from the beach in front of the la Salina bar. It seems to have stopped the silting of the entrance channel. Friends who have boats there tell me that they haven't dredged since building the new breakwater.

When I finish the restoration of my boat I plan on getting a slip. It's cheap...About $6ft including electric and water.

My Pops bought a place in La Salina the year before my daughter was born and she's now 8. The Marina was there then. Allbeit not on the slightly bigger scale it is now. Always got chased off the jetty while fishing. Im guessing at least 10 years old. They're building a large structure next to the little bar/cantina/taco/breakfast shack. Yacht club?

That's good to hear they figured it out. We had a friend who had his 49 foot cat there for 4-5 months in 2007. He moved there from Ensenada because it was a better deal and closer to the border.
They had free wi-fi too.
