Campground info in La Paz

fletchgd - 11-16-2008 at 12:14 PM

Would like to know if R. V. Casablanca is open for business. I have tried to call them at 612/124-2477, tried their e-mail address at RV.casablanca@gmail.com and haven’t received a response. We plan to arrive in La Paz around 10 January 2009. We will be attending Spanish language classes at Se Habla language school for one month and will need full hook-ups. We have a 24 foot Winnebago View and will be pulling a Scion xA. We have friends living in Los Barriles and intend to spend some of the week ends their.

Stayed there a year ago, nice - quiet - clean. Drove by it while down there in Oct. and it appeared to be open.

The number I hav for them is 01-612-124-1746. We stayed with them last year at Carnival and it was great. They do get all of the caravan traffic which is a real pain cause they will take every available spot sometimes, but that is good for the park owners. There is also a park with complete hookups as you first get to la Paz on the right hand side of the road called Marantha. When we got booted because of the caravans, we went there and it was a nice, quiet, and really clean place with a capucino bar.

Campestre Maranatha is located just out of La Paz at Km-11. Between El Centenario and Chametla.

If you want reservations call Cindy at 011 52 612 124 6275.

They have full hookups, laundry facilities and Cafe' Exquisito has Wi-Fi as well as great desserts!

I am attaching a few pictures of the campground.

Don,
Thanks, for the info, Maranatha sounds and looks like a really nice place to stay. As stated before, we plan to be in La Paz for four weeks while we attend Spanish classes.
We will be going through Tecate on 5 January 2009 with a stop in Guerrero Negro to see if we can see any whales. If this fits your schedule it fun to have you along. If not we will see you their.

Dont give up on Casa Blanca!
If you have bikes, you can bike to school and back. I lived with a family near that park and biked by it everyday while at Se Habla.
Really try to stay away from gringos while you are in school. Unless you speak spanish after class, you will not get the full benefits of the course.
Suerte!

Suerte,
Thanks for the advice, I was in Los Barriles visiting an old buddy in mid October and we drove by and stopped at Casa Blanco RV park but couldn’t find anyone to talk to. It would defiantly be a nice place to stay and it is fairly close to Se Habla. We are planning to stay in La Paz on week days but will see our friends from Las Barriles on most week ends. I do not speak any Spanish but my wife used to speak it quite well. (She was raised in San Antonio, Tx) I told the school I didn’t want any classes with her.

Hi,
Stopped by Casablanca in November, it was open and pretty empty. We were going to tent camp, but didn't stay there because it was on highway and noisy. We were spoiled by Aquamarina in past, which is now closed, except for a few long-time permanent people. The same two employees are still working there. Richard and Marylou are doing well in their (finally) retirement.
