Dredging the Mulege river

castaway$ - 11-25-2008 at 09:21 AM

I heard bits and pieces about this happening, is it true? Are they going to or have they dredged the river. If or when, is the intent to help channel water and allow a larger volume in the middle of the channel to stem some of the flooding. Is the dredging being done to enhance the river for boating activity to help influence more tourism? I'd love to see it a bit deeper sometimes it's a litlle dicey getting across the sandbar when I launch from the ramp by the airstrip by Serenidad. Anybody have any info?

I'm no civil engineer but the river is so close to the ocean wouldn't it be better to raise the tops of the banks than to lower the bottom of the river?? :O

So back to the original questions- Has there been any dredging or is a plan in place? Does anyone have any info?

promises, promises, promises....lots of talk, no action.....seems like the new malecon is more important than cleaning the river out....i did hear that there is now a moratorium on building permits along the river...
