I did a search for this on Nomad but came up with no results...
I am wondering if any Nomad's have experience with the SPOT satellite messenger in Mexico (Baja, Sea of Cortez)?

If so, did it perform as advertised? In your opinion, what are the pro's and con's of using it in Baja?
I've read some reviews and there seems to be mixed support for this product ...
Thanks!

A friend has it and in testing in the San Felipe area it seems right on for location.

Hi
I have started using it and it has been working as advertised for me. Go to: http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=...
and you will see my track for today. I travel out of cell range a lot and this gives me an additional comfort level.

Worked great this summer. Family in the US could see where we were and that everything was ok.

i have experience with bikes (DP Racing) and we put one on the plane when i flew them down for 2007 1000 pre running - it works great! Buy one now and
you get a $50 off coupon rebate. the annual sub is cheap too if you use it enough. $15 a month.
put one on your Kayak Greg! but don't get it wet.

Hey thanks everyone,
Good feedback! I am considering one of these units for my next coastal kayak trip - Capt. Mike guessed it!
As far as safety gear, I already have flares, VHF, a personal EPIRB, strobe lights, and I can even borrow a sat phone again if I want ...
But, the SPOT's ability to let others know where you are in real time really has my attention. If I get one for the next leg, I'll be sure and have
my brother post the location link on my website.
cool!
