Unbelievable deals for Los Cabos

bajajudy - 12-2-2008 at 08:27 AM

There are some outrageous deals available at the hotels here now. Here are just a few.

Needless to say as a business owner, I am thrilled to see these specials but as a tourist I would also be thrilled.

Down to prices one can afford ....

I especially liked the third link, the one without the resort presentation

Cabo is so screwed up now, I wouldn't stay there for free.

Good! you just stay up there in Ojai then

Bill Collector - 12-2-2008 at 11:31 AM

Judy,
is there any places for just one night in San Jose? A group of us we would like to come have dinner at Morgan's, we don't want to drive back at night to Buena Vista
Barb

bajajudy - 12-2-2008 at 01:26 PM

The Tropicana(142 1580) would be my choice. Although I understand that the rates have increased, it is hard to beat for convenience.
Also, you might want to consider El Vaccaro(sp?) for dinner, especially if you are coming for a steak. There was a recent thread by Pompano about the restaurant. It is right across from the municipal building on the square. There used to be a super market there.
I believe that you would get more bang for you bucks. Everyone says that you cannot eat all the food.
I will edit this if I find that thread.

Wingnut - 12-2-2008 at 01:50 PM

Right on Judy, all those Cabo bashers can stay where they are and we will enjoy all that Cabo has to offer for ourselves. It's nice to see some of the big guys finally having to come down in price. Heard of one couple that stayed for at the RIU (sp?) for a week for $500. Quite a come down from their opening price of $2k per night....Still, the Mar de Cortez is the best buy in CSL if you don't want fancy...hey Osoflojo and I will be down for Xmas this year, we'll try and get up to San Jose one day to say hi. Hope all is well....

My choice would be the El Encanto Inn Bed & Breakfast (they have a website), 2 blocks from the main plaza, 3 or 4 blocks from Morgans. Rooms start at $75 per night. Wonderful accomodations!

bajajudy - 12-2-2008 at 06:06 PM

Wingnut...See you then!

Thanks Pomp. I couldnt find that.

El Encanto is also nice and cheaper if they have the old rooms availble. I guess I should say original rooms which are the original Inn. All very nice. The new building is more expensive.

karenintx - 12-2-2008 at 07:05 PM

xoxo, bajajudy & wingnut

I'm with you on this...we enjoy the tourist but there is so much more to Cabo & SJD. Just wish others could discover the secrets like we have.

Wingnut...Tell osflojo that karenintx is ready to buy him the beer we owe him for all of his help he gave us when we were driving the SUV to Cabo last April. We will be in town during the holidays...he can U2U me when he gets to Cabo.

DrTom - 12-2-2008 at 08:24 PM

im in costa azul as we speak and honestly its never been better....no crowds, no hype....no giant dustbowl......pretty nice eh?

805gregg - 12-2-2008 at 09:24 PM

Judy, I was just there, I was offered crack pipes and coke multiple times right on the malecon, and saw people smoking crack. When I was there in 1973 none of this there and neither were you, I'm just saying that it's going down hill. I spent 2 weeks in Baja last summer and never went to cabo. No need. I did spent a week in La Paz and loved it. Also the 5.5 mil boat I took to Cabo moved to La Paz, wonder why?

Well instead of calling it Cabo, you should call it Cabo San Lucas. Los Cabos is the entire municipality and there are a lot of good and fun things to do here. I live near San Jose del Cabo which is still a lovely colonial town.

hey Doc??!!

where is Costa Azul? did you mean Cabo AZul where i stayed in Los Cabos, er. San Jose i mean?

Judy - nuthin wrong with that area, it is paradise, maybe like a city some with bad stuff too but you can't argue the geographics and being below the tropic lines in Dec ain't too shabby!

I was just on the waterfront at the marina in CSL. I didn't see or offered any of this. Maybe it is an age thing....I'm an over-the-hill kind of person.

I choose to live in San Jose but choose to keep my boat in La Paz. Reasons?

- lower rates
- closer to the islands
- more marine related services

I have the best of both worlds!

I was only there for about 20 hrs we pulled the boat into its slip about 3 o'clock and we took a van to the airport at about noon the next day. I went to one of the bars on the malecon to have a beer and watch the people. I was approached right away for to buy a crack pipe, I saw locals smoking crack on the alleyway between the Las Glorias from my seat and I was asked to by coke from a couple of guys. I'm not young, next mon. is my 60th birthday. The owner of the boat moved to La Paz because he has had the slip for years, now paying 6000 US per month. He only keeps the boat there for the big marlin tourneys. When he is not there they rent his slip out and he gets nothing. His new slip fee in La Paz is 1200 per month. You can see a picture of the the boat in the main bar on the malecon "After Midnight" I like San Jose and have camped there when you could still do that and rented a house in La Jolla above the surf. If you think the drugs are only in CSL think again. Sorry to see the degradation but it's done. And Judy in 25 years in Ojai, I've never seen crack smoked on the street and no one has offered me coke just hanging around, I like Ojai, you would too.

Terry28 - 12-4-2008 at 09:42 PM

805 greg...I agree "Cabo" has really gone down hill. Been going there for over 30 years and have seen all the changes..mostly bad...and expensive..except for the surf I don't have many reasons to go back even though we have a condo there, well, it is in San Jose...and HEY, I grew up in Ojai and it is a great place.....and we are the same age!!

bill erhardt - 12-5-2008 at 07:42 AM

Costa Azul is across the highway up the hill above Zippers, between Palmilla and San Jose.

JEEPERS! I am docked right next to AFTER MIGNIGHT! Yes, I was eyeing that tournament chair in the stern c-ckpit. On the other side of AFTER MIDNIGHT is SLOJO http://www.deltamarine.com/cp_slojo.html. Some of SLOJO's crew asked for a tour of my 40 foot trawler, ALOHA :lol::lol:

Great boat - a classic! I have a Willard 40PH. I know Jimmy Krogen. Knew his father. I'm good friends with Mike on KK44 FIRST ONE and Earl and Jinny on KK54 SEALARK, all at MLP. Much more to the story but should be taken off list. Send me a U2U if interested.

Wingnut - 12-9-2008 at 03:43 PM

Karenintx, no problem, I passed your comment on to Osoflojo and will probably have to remind him to U2U you. See you in Cabo....
