camping...Pto Chivato and San Juanico

rhintransit - 12-4-2008 at 06:59 AM

I have friends visiting who want to camp/kayak at these two sites and I haven't been to either lately. can anyone give me current information on camping there? thank you.

Pt. Chivato: the current land owners at the "camping beach" are discouraging camping. There are no facilities on the beach now. The latest "rumor" is they well block off all overnight use. It will be very interesting to see what happens at Easter if they do. There are other areas that are accessible that would be nicer. I could show them two places near here if they want to be away from things. But with the winter winds the better idea would be in Concepcion Bay somewhere. Please tell your friends to have at least one vhf radio. The wind comes up fast and strong. U2U me and I'll send ya an E-mail address they can use for me to keep on top of the latest "rumors".

You can camp in San Juanico at the Scorpion Bay Campground. Current fee is 100 peso person/per night. The big bay is usually flat, but if the winds pick up, be careful!
