AAA of California question

Any fellow Nomad either work for headquarters or have a contact with AAA of California that could steer me to the person responsible for getting the La Villa de San Quintin Hotel in next Baja edition of Motel travel quide listed I'd like to contact that person . Thanks. U2 me if you have a contact.

AAA had stopped doing the Baja guides as of a few years back. So dont waste your time!

I was just in AAA getting the Baja map and they asked if I wanted the Travel Guide???

Ya, the mapping guy is even a "guest author" at Keri's Book signing each May, and promotes the guidebook. We recently updated ours at AAA in Mission Valley, San Diego.

I have this one and its author (David Brackney) autograped it for me at the Pyramid Resort's book signing last year (5-5-07).

The book itself is copyright 2004, and David told Antonio (who was also there) that the Baja Cactus Motel with rave reviews would be in the next edition!

Now, who knows if the ACSC stops doing Baja maps and guides for all AAA members??? I hope not, but we shall see!

Our information from AAA is that there will be no more guide books nor maps.
We are or were their distributors here.

The Baja map, and I think the Baja guide book, was a product of the California State Automobile Association's map division, which provided many of the AAA maps. That division was recently closed down, so that may be the reason that the guide will not be produced any longer.

Geez, if true, that could have major implications for many other localized maps like the excellent county maps. :wow:

The division (?) was a seperate club... The Automobile Club of Southern California that made the maps and guides to Baja for 80 years... ACSC was an affiliate of AAA.

ACSC offices are still open for business around here...???

MANY of the maps you find in the ACSC offices are actually CSAA maps.

That was the 2007 edition map... I sure hope it isn't the last... Unlike all others, it has milages on each road shown. That kind of guarantees the road is really there and the crew recorded the distance on it.

As beautiful as other maps are, they tend to be in fantasy land with some of the roads shown.

ACSC Publishing Sales was the marketing arm of the auto club. The club's board decided to cancel further publishing of the Baja guide last year & stop selling the Baja maps commercially. Members can still get a map free from any AAA office. but we can't buy bundles,just like Judy can't.
