Drivers license and Birth Certificate. There are other documents that can be used as well go to cbp.gov for more info.bent-rim - 12-8-2008 at 03:08 PM
I thought I had lost my passport on my last trip and I played dumb, which is not a big leap for me, at the border and got through after a small
discussion with the man in the booth. I figured admiting to losing my passport would lead to a big hassle at the border. I later found it in my
first aid kit. Perhaps she'll get lucky and find hers as well. Good Luckgnukid - 12-8-2008 at 03:52 PM
It is best to simply go the transit area, either border or airport and play dumb and polite, keep looking slowly in front of them and keep providing
more and more date and try crying a little should work fine, the requirement is that they ensure you are who you say you are and that isn't hard to
demonstrate especially with a heavy nasal american accent.
Don't worry

You can make a verbal declaration of citizenship. It's quite common and done all the time. Tell them your documents were stolen. They're smart enough
to figure it out.woody with a view - 12-8-2008 at 04:28 PM
by the time you speak to someone you are in the US already. i don't think they can make you go back south so don't fret....David K - 12-8-2008 at 05:30 PM

As others have already said... passports are NOT required for land travel out of Mexico... not yet, anyway... The rquirement was made for air travel a
year ago or so...
Birth Cert. (or other proof of citizenship, like a voters ID+ photo ID, like a drivers license).woody with a view - 12-8-2008 at 06:40 PM

all knew that already.Udo - 12-8-2008 at 06:48 PM

thanks everyone, my friend feels better after reading all of the post. She'll just play dumb and get across, then apply for a new passport.
