Frida Kahlo...for Paula

Pompano - 12-8-2008 at 09:20 PM

I could not help but notice the distinct similarities between this daughter of a friend in Mulege..and Frida Kahlo. This youngster is very industrioius and sells lots of tamales to lots of people in Mulege. I bought a half-dozen and I hate tamales.

All who know this young lady are confident her life will be full of joy with none of the tragedies that consumed Frida.

With permission from her and her father, Bart..I now present...

a young Frida Kahlo:

That is just GREAT--

Thanks from someone who is not Paula.

And thank you from me too, Roger!

She looks like a delightful young person, and if I see her in Mulege I will most surely buy some tamales too.
And I'll eat every one of them-- they are one of my favorite things, just had some for dinner.

Great observation, Roger. There is good that comes out of these nomad threads. The resemblance is remarkable.

I do like the girl more, though. More human than Frida who somehow looks almost imperious in comparison.

I hope she loves her freckles as much as I do. Lovley young lady..

I see the resemblance too, and I would guess this girl might grow up to look more like this photo of Frida, and she won't be wearing the boulders around her neck as in the painting above.

She probably won't wear the bougainvillea and big braids, or the heavy earrings, or the shawls, but the smile is worth putting on.:dudette:

I wonder if the young lady even knows who Frida was or of her significance then and now.

Yes...naturally both parents are well aware of who Frida Kahlo was and explained to their daughter my interest in the resemblance. Her father remarked by kidding her..we will be calling you Frida now.
