Hi,
We normally cross into Mexico at the big Calexico West entrance when we need tourist cards because you could park right in front of the office and
walk back accross the street to the bank easily. We noticed last trip the area we used to park in is now closed, and all trafic was being routed to
the right side of the crossing instead.
How is entering from Calexico East? We are coming from the east, with all the detours it should be easier to come in from that side anyway, and we
usually always leave Mexico that way. I think we know Mexicali well enough to find Mex 5 from that entrance.
Are Tourist Cards and a Bank available to make payment at Calexico East?
Is it easy to find a place to park while you are obtaining the Cards at the east crossing?
Are the Office and Bank open 24 hrs on the east crossing?
Any other tips?
Thanks,
John

Yes both are right there and very easy to access and parking is more than you will need. When coming up to the entries where your vehicle comes to
the light game of green and then red stay to the far right lane next to the building under the big covered shaded Mexican Customs Inspectors. As you
drive through have your window down and tell them Banco and Immigration they will smile and nod their heads for you to just keep going. You will be
on Interstate 8 freeway when you see Jct. 7 for East Port of Entry with signs advising you well in advance on you way to getting to this East Port.
Excellent freeway in with little traffic most of the time and if you do not have a Sentri also exit this Port coming back. When coming back into the
U.S.A. stay all the way to the left next to the concret 3 foot wall and once over the bridge where the All American Canal water travels under it you
will have the ability to start deciding which of the 4 other lanes you want to get into. This Port is by far faster than Old Port and lanes are
larger for vehicles too. Hope your trip goes well and if your going to San Felipe or in that direction once you clear the Mexican Port area you will
come to the stop sign with a T-intersection where you turn left and then go all the way straight until you come to the airport road signs will be easy
to see and then turn right and follow the signs. There is a big Circle K store and gas station to the left of the intersection on the airport road so
you can clearly see it before you get up to it. They have good snacks in there also and fuel is quick to get and yes the wash the windshield.
