Old style propane tanks - do they still fill them in Baja?

I'm talking about the ones that don't have the triangular valve knob. Will they fill them?

yes

Packoderm, if you do get to some place that can't ..or won't..fill those older tanks, you can get an adaptor hose from some welding supply shops in the US.

I got mine made up at San Deigo Welding Supply a few years back. It's a good addition to your RV equipment. I have no no problems with getting any tanks filled here in Mulege though. Talk to Victor at Casa Yee tienda.

Just take the old tanks to a place that does the exchange for a new, full tank, if you need to upgrade (and why not?)... Lowes swapped my old for new without saying a word (as if the clerk had a clue)...

the new tanks are safer, they have an overfill prevention valve, so why not use the newer tanks? an exploding overfilled tank might ruin your day :( also, tanks over a certain age (how many years?) should be retired..

12 years from date of Manufacturing, and yes, get rid of those old jalopies, especially for those being used for heaters inside of a home.

I had an old 5 gal ta)nk that I swapped for a new one for about $25 which at that time was about the cost to fill the 5gal tank. Unfortunately, they do not have 7-10 gal swaps. I have an old 7 gal tank I wouldn't mind updating, but not for a 5 gal.

Interesting note- I bought a large tank (I think they called it a 100 lb size, stands almost 5 feet tall) 3 years ago at Lowes, no overfill protection! I asked my local filler (who is also a nomad south of Los Barilles) and he said tanks over (50 lb?) size are not required to have the overfill. Go figure......
