US anti-kidnapping expert kidnapped in Mexico

Woooosh - 12-15-2008 at 03:19 PM

Talk about irony...

MEXICO CITY – A U.S. anti-kidnapping expert was abducted by gunmen in northern Mexico last week, a sign of just how bold this nation's kidnapping gangs have become.

U.S. security consultant Felix Batista was in Saltillo in Coahuila state to offer advice on how to confront abductions for ransom when he was snatched by unknown assailants on Dec. 10, said Charlie LeBlanc, the president of the Houston, Texas-based security firm ASI Global LLC., where Batista is a consultant.

"We have notified the FBI and Mexican authorities, and they are working on the case," LeBlanc said Tuesday. "What we are doing is we're offering our support to the family and hoping for the best."

The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City said it would not comment on the case, and LeBlanc declined to say whether a ransom demand had been received.

LeBlanc said Batista had his own security business and that "he was in Mexico for business that wasn't associated with our company."

Batista's work involved crisis management consulting, LeBlanc said. "Part of that could be or may involve negotiations with kidnappers."

ASI Global's Web site advertises "kidnap and ransom response" and says the company has worked for major insurance companies.

Kidnapping has become a rising problem in Mexico, but attacks on U.S. anti-crime consultants have largely been the stuff of movies. The seizure seems to echo the plot of a 2004 movie, "Man on Fire," in which Denzel Washington played a U.S. security consultant who takes on Mexican kidnappers and is abducted himself.

Coahuila's governor recently set off a nationwide controversy by proposing to reinstate the death penalty for kidnappers who kill their victims. Mexico outlawed the death penalty in 2005 and abandoned it in practice decades ago.

The kidnap-killings in the past year of the daughter of the country's former sports commissioner and the son of a prominent businessman have caused outrage across Mexico.

Coahuila state law enforcement officials who were not authorized to be quoted by name said Batista had been giving talks to local police officials and businessmen on how to prevent or avoid kidnappings.

They said he apparently was snatched from a street outside a restaurant.

A profile of Batista posted — and later removed — from the ASI Global Web site described him as "the primary case officer for all cases throughout the Latin American region."

The site said Batista was a former U.S. Army major who is "known for conducting in-depth threat assessments, the successful resolution of nearly 100 kidnap and ransom cases (many on behalf of major insurance carriers) and investigations."

The company denied local media reports that Batista was a former FBI agent, and warned those reports could put his life at risk.

"We at ASI are very concerned for Felix's safety and would like to take this opportunity of stating categorically that Felix has never been an agent in the FBI," the company said in a statement

Undue credit

I think it was. Coincidence only goes so far. Do you think he was a random target?

No... Only in the sense that he was probably well dressed and had the look of money. He fit the profile. But that he was targeted because of his connections to anti-kidnapping?

I seriously doubt it.

BajaGringo - 12-15-2008 at 05:09 PM

I agree with Dennis. This was obviously done to send a very loud message.

Trust me that if he is not found and rescued alive by the powers that be very quickly the message will only grow louder and reach an ever more attentive audience.

Our prayers go out to him and his family...

gnukid - 12-15-2008 at 06:21 PM

Nope, I don't buy it. This is precisely the game with the same trademark. An agent connected to the military is kidnapped and its blamed on unfolding chaos and "badguys" but no evidence exists to show that he was kidnapped by anyone? If he was kidnapped really, how do we know? How did the report get out so quickly? How do they know who did it or how or why?

The story is missing critical elements which would add credibility and its quick conclusion without facts, evidence etc... lend to the conclusion that this is the same old trick, USA backed false flag by US black operations in order to precipitate the call for US intervention.

I'll get Mexican intelligence on this asap.

Yeah

So how much do those human lojacks cost? Seeming like a good investment. And a nice set of body armor too!;D

I think it's been spattered all over the wall and ceiling for quite some time now. Just another day in paradise.

Unfortunately, it keeps coming and the fan keeps spinning. Bussiness as usual.

Word of advice: Never smell a Mexican fan.

That looks okay but I doubt the kidnappers will let you keep it.
I was thinking this:

Digital Angel GPS and RFID products are utilized around the world to save lives, ensure the safety of our food supply, reunite loved ones and improve the quality of life. We are a leading developer of technologies that enable the rapid and accurate identification, location tracking, and condition monitoring of what is important to people. Applications of our products include identification and monitoring of pets and fish with our implantable RFID microchips, identification of livestock with our ear tags, GPS based search and rescue beacons for aircraft, ships, boats, and individuals.

It's an implantable GPS locator. Couldn't find where to buy one.

Please please Fishbuck. Do not promote RFID implants whose purpose is to track all people, charge you taxes for transit, and to increase control by BigBrother.

This "reported" incident looks more like a promotional campaign for the RFID than an actual kidnapping for ransom.

Never accept the RFID chip. It is a very powerful tool that is designed to control people and can be used to target you, track you and affect your mood and reduce your intelligence and ability to reason using targeting microwaves.

Bad bad bad.

Thank you George Orwell Jr.

gnukid - 12-16-2008 at 12:41 AM

As his novel 1984 is a cautionary tale it also serves as a guidebook.

We should monitor and surveil our public servants, but we do not need the public to be chipped. Look at the obvious false nature of these promo reports which coincide with the goals by the GOV who would like to drive the general public to beg for a RFID chip. Smarten up Winston:spingrin:

fishbuck - 12-16-2008 at 01:06 AM

Maybe we have already been injected with the chip!!!
When I was in the military they gave me shots with this air gun thing. They said it was a "vaccine" but now I'm not so sure.
I think I'm being follow by black helicopters too!
Maybe I should wear an aluminum foil hat to block the satellites from transmiting microwave beams to my head.
The government seems to be sending me signals to drink more beer, fornicate more on Revolutin Bv. and then go fishing all the time.
It's a diabolical scheme. What kind of monsters are they!;D

If I were in the hands of kidnappers, I'd want someone tracking me. Maybe a tracking device to be used only when in dangerous places. It could be stuffed into a BigMac and carried 'till the moment of elimination when it could be retrieved, rinsed off reingested by mixing it in the bowl of dog food that your captors have provided you with to keep you healthy and chipper for the ransom exchange.
That's what George Orwell would have done, I'm sure.

Woooosh - 12-16-2008 at 12:50 PM

Wouldn't you need two chips implanted so they can track your head and body?

If this guy is really an expert hostage negotiator- it'll be interesting to see if he can get himself out. I think if they find out his profession they'll definatley kill him. Maybe they didn't know who he was- just an easy target; but his whole business is eduacting people how NOT to be an obvious target. So he failed his own advice aparently and now we'll see how he does with the geeting-out-alive part of his business.

in order for the aluminum hat to block all incoming radio waves it must have a whorlly propeller on the top. DUH! i thought everyone knew THAT?:light:

A RFID is not going to help you it can only hurt you.

Many top ranks, pilots etc.. are required as you noted to popped with a RFID chip. Nowadays some states are including an RFID in the driver's license and the plan is for new passports to be chipped. You can destroy by microwaving it. Except that too much will mark the document with a burn mark.

My ex is a vp at a RFID chip technology research lab. The chips are being tested for use in reception of microwaves that can cause many changes in your mood, energy, physical outlook and your ability to think clearly.

One of the prime new weapons is the use of microwaves to create an environment which is innabitable. You saw the large microwave guns in use at the GOP and DNC conventions. More subtle use can affect specific chip carriers and note your GPS position, your movements etc... A targeted use is to Tax you based on your movement across freeways and roads.

The requirement for everyone to be chipped by x date has been passed by the federal government but declined to be put into use by many states.
