a new educational tortilla wrapper has arrived in mulege...
yesterday we bought tortillas..this is the wrapper...
it educates people about "tolerance"
interesting...
every household uses tortillas...
someone had great idea

Now, if they would just take the idea of missing children on milk cartons and apply it to Tecate cans or the equivilant for the region, the whole
country would be aware.Fred - 12-20-2008 at 01:06 PM
Dennis.........I thought I saw that face on your Pacifico can.

IF the "tolerance" Tortillas get the same level of attention that the Milk Cartons do, don't expect any changes before the wrapper goes into the
Dumpster.
AND, what kind of shallow-thinker would have their views influenced by something they read on a wrapper ?
Another "touchy-feelY" waste of time.
BTW, has anybody ever seen any of those people on the cartons ? OR, anyone from one of those "missing" for years promos on TV ?BMG - 12-20-2008 at 01:33 PM

I don't know how many missing children are found because of milk carton ads or TV spots, but there are many that are found years after their
disappearance.
I don't have any objection to these types of "touchy-feely" promotions as long as they aren't done with taxpayer funds.

Oh, c'mon Bill. I have intuitive knowledge that you've put Goodwill merchandise in a Nordstrom bag. Hasn't your wife picked up on that after all
these years?
Merry Christmas for you and yours, Bill.BajaNuts - 12-20-2008 at 01:49 PM
From the State of California Attorney General website-
"By making photographs of missing persons available, we seek to aid in the identification and recovery of missing persons. According to the National
Center for Missing and Exploited Children, one in six missing children are recovered as a direct result of someone recognizing their photo and
notifying authorities."
From the same website-
Missing Children in 2007 116,475
Missing Children in 2006 120,191
that's 39,444 children recovered in 2 years as a result of photo recognition.
MrBill, If your child was missing, wouldn't you want every available possible resource used for your child? You sound so bitter and negative....(I'm
trying to find something nice to say since it is near Christmas)....I'd better just leave it at that.
Also note the above statistics are just for children under 18, it does not take into account any adult stats
Whew...

Could you either post a close-up photo of the center of the wrapper or maybe just a copy of the text?
Thanks.
Every Available Resource ?
MrBillM - 12-20-2008 at 02:25 PM
NO ! Nothing bitter about it. Just realistic.
As mentioned elsewhere, if it simply involves private funds, I don't care one way or the other. People have the right to spend their own money in
any legal way they see fit.
Taxpayer money, on the other hand, SHOULDN'T be spent in ways that show no probability or proof of success AND said success can be shown to improve
the general welfare.
The whole concept of "Doing whatever it takes" is nonsense that leads to all sorts of wasteful spending.
It reminds me of the debate over lowering the National Speed Limit to save lives. In that debate, it was pointed out that if those people who said
"ANYTHING that saves lives is worth doing", they would push for a 20-mph maximum speed limit strictly enforced. The reduction in traffic deaths would
be dramatic. However, our economy would come to a crippling halt.
There is a Balance Sheet on EVERYTHING.
That said, in the spirit of the season celebrating the Birth of Christ, I hope that everyone finds their missing children well and happy.
Kumbaya.
As long as I don't have to pay for it.Bob and Susan - 12-20-2008 at 03:13 PM

"Campaña de Sensibilización contra la Violencia de Género"
fdt - 12-20-2008 at 04:03 PM
It's not just tortilla wrapping paper, there were only 2 million of those wrapers distributed within rural areas of the country. It's a nationwide
campaign that is for respect of genders, non violence of gender. Remember the macho?
School children in the first 3 grades of elementary are taking Culture and Civics classes, from then to 1st grade of secondary the class is Culture of
Legality and from second of secondary to third it's called Civic and Ethic Formation. From 1st of Preparatoria and he takes 2 of those classes, one
is calledSociety and Values and the other is Formacion ciudadana y cultura de la legalidad.
A lot of changes are going on.
I'm suspicious of anything with a Unicef logo on it.DENNIS - 12-21-2008 at 08:29 AM

I guess we'll have to define "success" before we apply your standard to our involvement in the Middle East. Seems that the Wacky Iraqy rendition of
success differs from what we are told.
ZZZZING..............Wow, a size eleven wing tip just sailed by my head.Hook - 12-21-2008 at 08:40 AM
Put mug shots of local bad guys on 'em, offering a reward for "information leading to the arrest and conviction......."
Maybe start with some local cops and soldiers in Rosarito, huh, Dave?
What, in God's name, are you still doing there? How close is the boat to being finished?
Sail away...............sail away.BajaNuts - 12-21-2008 at 06:39 PM
I don't think the comparison of lowering the speed limit and what is printed on a label are apples-to-apples comparison. To me, 39,444 recoverd kids
in 2 years seems proof of success of the program.

Does this mean you won't be donating to the toy drive?
At some point it's a karma thing, good luck.fdt - 12-21-2008 at 06:45 PM
