I bought a new Continental (made by Bosch) at Ithsa for 2800 pesos. It's really nice. Has a good seal and thermostat. Only one shelf, though, as it
is the kind where the shelf comes out automatically when you open the door. I recommend it.bajabif - 12-24-2008 at 11:52 AM
actually, there is a seal but no knob(thermostat) with degreesTMW - 12-24-2008 at 02:21 PM

How will you tell the temp?bajabif - 12-24-2008 at 03:24 PM
i wet my finger and put it in the oven. works every time. i am pretty sure if i look at the manual, it will tell me what 1-5 mean in celsius. if not,
i will have to get a thermometerbeachbum1A - 12-26-2008 at 08:05 AM
AND does it have a broiler? Several I looked at when considering a purchase didn't even have a broiler! You gotta really be careful and make sure what
you're buying has the features you expect/need.

come over its there for your use.....i must ask fishbuck about this!oladulce - 12-26-2008 at 08:29 PM

On my tiny, cheapo Mabe oven/range the #3 setting for the oven is about 350°. I had to buy an oven thermometer because the manual doesn't say anything
about how the 1-5 correlates to oven temp.
Like Bob says, next time I'm shopping for a real oven I'll make sure to look for a seal around the door too. Without the seal it's like a blast
furnase around the door when the oven's on and it does a number on the cabinets. Not to mention the skin I leave on the nearby cabinet knobs if I
forget to let them cool off after baking.vandenberg - 12-26-2008 at 08:37 PM

Not necessarily. In most of the cheap units, like yours , that's only for storage.
And if the oven has a pilot light, your lucky. Most of those you have to light the oven by hand, a sh*tty task for most people.

After maybe 15 years of doing that, I discovered that the manual did tell how to "map" the numbers to degrees
