The UPS Store in Chula Vista (627 H street) announced the 22nd that it will closing on the 31st. The staff is gone and a transition team is there to
close the place down. They will move your mail to the Downtown location but no refunds if yo don't want that location.
This notice caught us by surprise and EVERYONE has only a week to find another mail location. I'm sure many nomds use these convienient location for
package delivery.k-rico - 12-24-2008 at 10:09 AM
I use the one on Telegraph Canyon Road, north side, in the plaza just east of the 805. I have been thinking about getting one within walking distance
of the border.Woooosh - 12-24-2008 at 10:14 AM
Finding "mail drops" is easy enough. It's hard to find a place to securely hold packages besides UPS Stores. I buillt most of my house with stuff
shipped there from the internet. I even had an antique Harley shipped there. Nothing good lasts forever I guess.
Any other package options nomads can recommend?

An excellent alternative would have to be the Jackson Hewitt location of 1655 Broadway, Suite 10 in Chula Vista.
They can handle your UPS, FedEx and others and are also an official USPS location, with PO Boxes and all. Most importantly great people and great
customer service.
Yes, these are the same people that for the past 3 years have helped us with the Baja Nomad Toy Drive and have asked for nothing in return. It would
be closer to you than H street and is freeway close. As a matter of fact there is way less traffic than on H.
Give them a try.fdt - 12-24-2008 at 10:22 AM

Jackson Hewitt is so easy to get to, for last years toy drive, to get the bicycles across, I would take my children on the trolley with me, get off on
Palm avenue, go pick up 3 bikes at a time and ride them back across the border. It was fun.
Give them a try.DENNIS - 12-24-2008 at 11:23 AM

It's a mail drop for a bunch of folks in the Punta Banda area.......never heard a complaint.fdt - 12-24-2008 at 11:46 AM
Checking out the Jackson Hewitt wich is of easyer access than the Sav-on would be supporting a business that supports Baja Nomad. tjBill - 12-24-2008 at 12:19 PM
The Mail Room in Imperial Beach is excellent. Prices cheaper than the big chains.

when you have the chance to support friends- why not?bajabound2005 - 12-24-2008 at 09:50 PM
Mail Room in Imperial Beach is $100/year with PERSONAL service. Highly recommended We noticed that the UPS Store on 4th in Hillcrest of San Diego
also has closed. Now it's a sign shop!fdt - 12-24-2008 at 11:24 PM
Try them out, Mail room, Sav-on, mom and pop or cousin Jim Bob. I can only recomend the ones that have been helping Baja Nomad for over 3 years
without charging a penny.
Not one item lost yet.
They have gone far and beyond. Have helped us help the children of Tijuana and the ones from Esteban Cantu in the Punta Banda area. Without their
support, we would have not had a drop off point in the US for the Dia de Reyes Toy Drive for the past 3 years, thus not beeing able to have a Dia de
Reyes Toy Drive for Baja Nomad for Lomas Taurinas or Esteban Cantu.
Come on, support those that have helped Baja Nomad and the toy drive. These are some of the children that benefited from the Toy Drive thanks in part
to Jackson Hewitt's help

We have had a mailbox for five years now at MailMax in Chula Vista at 1177 Broadway, directly across the street from CostCo/Wal*Mart. They ship out
with UPS-FedX-USPS- you name it. As full time Baja residents near Mulege, getting our mail down has sometimes not been easy, but MailMax has mostly
solved this issue. As most folks down here come and go often by plane and car, we have MailMax bundle up our mail and forward it to those folks when
they tell they are coming. All this done by email. MailMax can take your payment with PayPal if you wish. A mailbox is $120/year. To get a mailbox
they require you to apply in person with picture ID.
