Btw, I've always wondered wherethat z-trail leads. Can you tell us or do we have to hike up and see?

Pompano-

Why is Playa Cocos is called "Cocos"?
I don't recall ever seeing trees there and with the mangles behind the beach , it doesn't seem like a place where palms once grew.

LAST PHOTOS IS THIS THREAD...sorry I could not get all these in my first post, but I am slooooow this morning.

Corky, that old Z-trail up the mountain is just that..we were told a couple different stories..one a track for early motorcyle hill climbers. Another a long-ago training course for padres. I went up there many years ago..tried it in my CJ-5, never made it, a tire killer.

oladulce, at one time there were palms there..as in most of the Conception Bay beaches. There are still a few places on the other side of the peninsula where the palms are still left unmolested.

woody in ob..august? Yes, Santispac was REALLY deserted when I took that photo dated 12-18-08. Santispac today has a dozen campers max and still pretty much deserted compared to years gone by.
.
To avoid a really long post here's some more DECEMBER photos of Coyote Bay...a few changes here and there.

Roger....
There's enough quality stuff here for a full calendar. All you have to do is add the days and dates.

Thanks.

...just another few shi!!y days in paradise...

While up here in Nor-Cal, our gas meter's wheels are turnin', furnace is burnin' almost 24/7, and the ground's so wet the dog won't hunt...:smug:

And if that isn't enough, I just got a notice from my favorite Cigar supplier, JR cigar, that they expect a new tax law called 'S-chip' (State Children's Health Insurance Program) to be passed quickly by the incoming Demo's...as proposed it would raise the cost of cigars by 53% of the 'wholesale' price with a cap of $3.00 PER CIGAR!!! The cigar lobby is hoping to bring enough pressure to bear to get the cap set at no greater than $1.00 PER CIGAR!! President Bush vetoed twice, laws last year that would have put this 53% tax in effect! JR Cigar believes that with BO moving into the White House, you can bet your last dollar on this ugly tax becoming a reality!!! Better stock up on your favorite stogies now! JR is offering great discounts on inventory of popular cigars in some of the slower moving sizes...got to get outside and puff, puff away...:lol:

How's that for 'Change'...be careful what you ask for...

Bajahowodd - 1-2-2009 at 11:24 PM

Wonderful pix. Makes me want to get in the rig and drive.

Could not resist one more..a 'Before and After' for the New Year.

Pompano - 1-3-2009 at 03:12 AM

CHANGING TIMES....Nostalgia is taking over, folks.

The subject pooch here is Cedrik the Derelict, a resident community beach dog at Coyote Bay. She is loved by us all...and vice versa.
