CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico -- Two Canadian tourists have been hospitalized with gunshot wounds after assailants opened fire at a nightclub in the resort town of Cabo San Lucas.

Baja California Sur state police investigator Omar Barajas says the gunmen fled after the shooting early Tuesday at Mermaid's Table Dance bar. No arrests have been made.

Barajas released the names of two men from Vancouver, Canada, Thursday. But the names given could not be confirmed with the Canadian Embassy, which was closed for New Year's Day.

A security guard at the club was also wounded.

The two tourists are listed in stable condition.

Mermaids is a strip bar and brothel in San Lucas. Drugs bought and sold there. You fill in the rest of the story.

Is kinda strange

that only 2 white guys, I'm assuming, since they were canadian they must be white, were hit.

It's a "table dance bar"? I havent' seen many mexican strippers than can dance on a table without either falling off of or collapsing the table!

I doubt that the security guard was "white".

NEVER assume anything. One Canadian was named Donguyen Ninhtrung. It depends on your definition of "white."

"The newspaper identified the victims as Donguyen Ninhtrung, 26, from Vancouver and Brenhan Spowe Michel, 28, whose hometown wasn’t known. They arrived in Mexico on Dec. 28 and are scheduled to depart on Jan. 7.

Carrie Duncan, publisher for the English-language newspaper Gringo Gazette, said Mexican authorities questioned three of the two men’s friends who were at the bar at the time of the shooting and threatened them with jail time if they didn’t tell police who shot them.

“The police know people don’t burst into a club and target a specific group unless there was some bad blood there. Or more accurately, bad drugs,” she said.

Duncan said the threat must have worked “because they gave up the names of the guys they peeed off.”

A suspect has already been arrested, she said. "

Canada has openly embraced immigrants- they have lots of land and not so many people.

I'm not surprise the surnames were asian at all. You'd have to visit Vancouverof anywhere in BC to really understand the huge asian influences and population shift. I think asians outnumber whites there already.

:lol::lol: :lol: You bad Dave.

Sure glad they survived.

Damn! I always miss the fun. Seriously, about ten years ago, I was approached by a guy in Southern California who wanted me to invest and become silent partner in that very joint. I turned him down.

As for the Asian angle, can't say that I recall Cabo to be a big tourist destination for Asians.

What happened at Mermaids, according to an "insider".

"Puès si al parecer era un asunto de drogs. Yes the point is the drug s . The reazon it`s they was going at other place and over there don`t pay "this" and they following with an arms and in this place to put accion for that."

edited for quote marks. You'll have to interpret yourself.

This translates into, "This appeared to have been a matter relating to drugs."
