WARNING!!! big fish photo from Asuncion...again! MORE TUNA TOO!

shari - 1-3-2009 at 08:01 PM

well, it's been a very very happy new year so far for all the nomads gathered here for the holidays. Everybody is catching fish, singing around timo's campfire, drinking Barbarenos paralysers, and generally having a great time. Awful Art left today so he could watch the game in GN and Sirenita and her bartender....er...novio also returned to Ensenada but Vagabundo is still hangin out catching croakers.
We look forward to a new nomad joining us...he is only 18 but had the time of his life here this week...hanging with Nomads, Sirenita and the surfer kids here and THEN caught this monster yellowtail...they'll be back!!

So how big is the fish!!!

Timo1 - 1-4-2009 at 07:37 AM

He weighed in at 31 pounds 12 ounces

shari - 1-4-2009 at 07:52 AM

It's funny cause when I saw that fish, I thought oh yeah, a forty pounder for sure...it looks smaller when Gary holds it as he's a BIG guy himself. It's the biggest YT this year...jajaja...so groovy Gary holds the record so far....this kid ROCKS....nicest teen guy I've ever met...he cooks, he cleans, he is an excellent conversationalist around the campfire, he parties, he helps out, the girls love him, he's the 18 year old bomb! and already a legend in the village...wish I had some photos of him downing tequila with the surfer boys on new years....cant wait for them to be part of the fiestas this summer.

Wow. The fish just keep coming. Glad to see all is well.

As usual, it looks great there, and the fishing epic! Hey, need a doctor there? Dra. Pescadora and I are almost ready to give it up here. Economy and business slow, and she misses Mexico badly.

shari - 1-6-2009 at 09:15 AM

Can Ms. doctora pescadora "fix" female dogs????

Sharksbaja - 1-6-2009 at 12:45 PM

Hi Shari, just wondering, how many fish can one keep per day down there? That looks like a whole lotta fish for just 3 people. Hope you save some for future generations.:saint:

bajabass - 1-7-2009 at 09:01 AM

Sorry Shari, she only works on people! Is there a doctor or clinic in town.

shari - 1-8-2009 at 08:11 AM

Sharkey...thank you for your concern for the fishery....the limit is 10 fish per person with 5 of each species of tuna and YT, bonita etc. There were 4 guys on this boat so didnt near bring in their limit and we fed a big group of people with this fish plus smoked alot of it which we give away to guests, friends and family...just cant seem to smoke enough fish. The bonita is given away as bait to the shore fishermen, lobster guys or smoked...the heads and carcass gets used as lobster bait and the dogs and cats get left overs too. We also give fish to our builders, store owners, police, family, friends etc...there is never enough fish to go around. If you fished here you would realize the few fish we take is a drop in the bucket and there are very very few boats fishing here.

Ya know what was really cool....was seeing Drew's face with the fish...he had never caught a fish before...do you remeber the first fish you caught??? well... for such a serious guy...he was all smiles that day...I love that! It was not your normal fishing guy charter.

bajabass...we have a hospital AND a clinic here!

Thanks Shari. You know how I worry! Good to see you don't just give it to your fav restaurant. That just wouldn't be fair to the others.:D

Yes, the first fish I caught was with my pop on the rocks near Marineland. It was a giant opaleye. Still can smell those stinky guts!
