Accident in Rosarito

With all the negative press lately, I wanted to write about something positive that happened to a pair of seniors that accidently strayed in Mexico. It could have turned out to be very tragic but instead turned out well thanks to the Rosarito police and tourist patrol.
Two seniors left St.Pauls here in San Diego to go to the San Ysidro outlet center to return a pair of shoes. Well, they missed the turnoff for the outlet center and ended up in Mexico. They panicked and took another wrong turn and ended up on the toll road to Rosarito. Now they were very confused and scared. They tried to exit off the toll road in Rosarito and ended up going down an embankment. Fortunately, they were not injured but the car was totaled!
The police arrived on scene within 2 minutes and carried the seniors up the embankment and placed them in their patrol car. They arranged for the vehicle to be towed, gave them all the info and even drove them baqcl to the border and made sure they got across and into a cab to come back to San Diego.
This situation could have turned out much differently and many thanks to those cops!!!!

Props for the cops. But if these seniors made it all the way to Rosarito because of a wrong turn in California, maybe they shouldn't be driving anymore.

They won't be!

Great story. Hugo Torres owes you dinner for two at the Rosarito Hotel.
Jeezo...If I went off-roading while taking an exit from the road, I'd be on the breathalyzer.

I'm glad there is still great respect for senior citizens. That is one thing I hope never changes in mexico. If they were in their twenties- it would have had a very different ending IMHO.

Down an embankment?

Reminds me one time when I was crossing at San Ysidro to go back into Mexico.

Blocking my lane was a huge US truck with a very puzzled driver standing outside as a Mexican border guard explained to him that no, this wasn't the exit for San Ysidro, and yes he was about to enter Mexico!

We have on more than one occasion found Mexican police to be more polite and understanding than their American counter part. I have to admit the silver in our hair tells our age.

From what the seniors told me, north of the Rosarito Beach hotel. Needless to say, this senior will be using a bus from now on!

It could very well have been them! They said they were off the toll road looking for a place to turn around.....
