and I can hardly wait. We are heading to gonzaga by way of coco's (after reading tim perkins post a few months back). Just thought I'd let you know.
I have been salivating over this since before Christmas. I actually don't have any questions at this point. I am still reading/digesting all posts
I can get to. Any input on places to eat/camp would be welcome.

Please bring Coco some oranges. A nice little cantina is located just to the North of Rancho Grande, past the military checkpoint, turnoff to Papa
Fernandez. Papa's grandaughters will make someting good to eat every time. Make sure you check out the photo of Papa standing next to John Wayne!

There is a really great resturant just at the turn off from the hwy. to start on the dirt towards Coco's. The Machaca and eggs is the best! You know
it has to be good when you see all the local semi's parked there.

Brandi and I were just there this past weekend. We saw Coco at Alfonsina's Fiesta and he looked very well. Boy, can that guy dance. He looked like
he was having a really great time. He also has a little kitten, that I guess was too young to come to the party, so he left it at the Brandi's casa
while he was at the party. The weather was just great. Not too hot during the day (although I did come home with a slight shade of red to my skin),
perfect for sleeping at night. As usual, the food at the cantina was excellent.

The restaurant Debra is talking about has been famous for years and they do have great food.
The many trucks parked in front of restaurants along the Carretera also means that there are probably some waitresses that are more than willing to
share a little something besides food

Laguna Chapala's cantina really services their clients, eh? No wonder it is always shown as a major point on the highway, in the Mexican road
maps!

we leave sat am. It looks like we are going to end up doing a loop from mexicali to san felipe on to gonzaga and then to coco's, chapala, and up the
1 with one day stay in San diego before heading home. we have 7 days to burn, no women or children on this trip and thanks for all the input. We
have no agenda other than to go with the flow and eat well. The truck stop sounds like a good place to stop (for the food only)!

I did not mean that that restaurant in particular has "extra" items on there menu and in fact I doubt that they do.
But, there are many that do offer "specialty" items along the Carretera. This is passed down to me from certain truck drivers who know the route
well.
