Just wondering, is anybody homeschooling in the area?

Maybe I should be more specific. We are homeschooling and wanted to know if there was anybody else doing it and might want to get together and share
info, ideas, etc. I have a 14 and a 4yo.

Home schooling is not recognized in Mexico kids need the papers given after they complete school in a public or private accredited school by SEP. I
DO suppliment my children's education but I do so on my own. You CAN homeschool and get USA papers to do this and most of the materials are available
online...BUT you will have a difficult time explaining all that if they will at some point enter a Mexican school in the future. Mine are 8 and 6yrs
currently at the only private school in town but that one only goes up to 6th grade. Good luck with the 14yo. The secondarios are terrible here!
You WILL need to suppliment their education if they ever hope to compete with others in the future. Same goes for the prepas here.

I know home schooling is not recognized in Mexico. I've been homeschooling my oldest since 2nd grade. I had her in the secundaria here in town but as
you say they are not good at all, so we went back to homeschooling; we are using an International Academy, she is completing 9th grade and she will
get a certificate at the end of school (12th). They are accredited internationally so the certificate will be valid anywhere she wants to continue
study.
One of my reasons for asking is that when we where in the state we had a homeschooling group to get the kids together and do fun stuff and get help
with school, etc. just a little social group, and I would like to do the same here.

I see what you mean and its nice to know about the int'l academy program. I'll have to look into it. Its difficult to find parents here that are
willing to get together and do a study program like you describe especially in Nopolo where there are mostly parents of grown non-school aged
children. Perhaps post some flyers at the schools, the banks, ISSSTE and some of the markets and at the english school on Benito Juarez there may be
some interested parents here with kids in your child's age group.

Thanks for the input. I'll see what happens.
