The Diver Truck is on the Road!

DianaT - 1-17-2009 at 11:57 AM

GREAT NEWS

Mrs. Diver just called and they just picked up the truck. :tumble::tumble:

Mrs. Diver said they replaced a computer module for the fuel injectors

Diver will, I am sure, will fill everyone in about this repair in diesel truck language just as soon as he has a computer available.

Now, Bajagringo, end that music!:lol:

That is great news. This is one trip they won't soon forget. When they look back I think they can get a good laugh and think wow that was not what I expected. For one thing it kept many of us glued to the PC following the events as they unfolded. As someone said like a soap opera.

No, we saw it in person moving and pulling trailer. They just left our house and are headed for a county RV Park they like---then don't want to head north until they have driven some---just to make sure!

BajaNuts - 1-17-2009 at 03:50 PM

I've been following the soap opera, didn't want to miss an episode!

It won't end until we get the post from Diver with a pic of the truck at their home......

all those $80/hour diagnostics and labor at the dealer outta really make ya smile. i guess they woulda rather spent the money in baja but at least they are safe and have memories to last a lifetime.....

Not many, they cooked a lot of meals in their trailer in the parking lot of Baja Cactus.

Mrs. Diver did say, however, that one of the highlights of the trip was meeting Mama and sitting and talking with her for quite a while. She had brought some school items for Bahia Asuncion, which they did not make, so she gave them to Mama.

We really look forward to their return to Bahia Asuncion---shoot, they didn't even get to see the new septic on their property. And we were disappointed that Mrs. Diver did not get to see the results from the new clean up committee in Bahia Asuncion since she cleaned up so much trash on their last visit.

Thay will be back.

So, the ICM after all.

While the part may be pricey, the labor to remove it should not have been.

From what I have heard, it is rare when they fail. However, dealers are notorious for replacing them even when they're fine, if an injector fails.

Diver, I'd really like to know the cost of that injector control module, if that's what it was.

I thought it had come up that the truck had a 7.3 engine. Baja Gringo said it is a 2004, that would be a 6.0. We are going to have to wait and get ALL of the story from the man when they get home, I guess.

There does seem to be a large grey area with the ICMs. They hold their own codes that a normal code reader will not see because they are not stored in the PCM. I have heard many stories where a problem could not be diagnosed with the best of tools, and they had to swap out the ICM as a guess.

Yup, as I said in the first post, I am sure he will post all the details in diesel engine language.:yes:

The good thing is that we did not hear from them last night so they must have made it to the county RV Park.

I believe that Ford made a 7.3 in 2004. The 6.0 was a V-10

norte - 1-18-2009 at 04:07 PM

2004 was a 6.0 litre diesel.

Joelt - 1-19-2009 at 03:51 AM

The first part of 2003 they made the 7.3 then went to the 6.0.

bigboy - 1-19-2009 at 08:22 AM

The gas V10 is 6.8L or 415 cubic inches!

BajaGringo - 1-19-2009 at 08:24 AM

Just checked and you are right.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
