NEW BAJA ALMANAC

bajabound2005 - 1-19-2009 at 06:04 PM

According to the latest issue of the Discover Baja newsletter, the new Baja Almanac and companion foldout map are imminent! They say the publisher is working with the printer to have copies available in the Discover Baja office in early 2009. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I posted this, last month:

Discover Baja is taking advance orders for the new Almanac... they say 2 months... <<<

NO GOOD NEWS... Calls to the Almanac's creator (Landon) are not answered or returned.

Discover Baja Travel Club was told the all new Almanac would be ready in January... so to be safe, DBTC told the membership 'February'... and I talked to them a couple days ago, and still nada.

If anyone can get ahold of Landon Crumton, please tell him "we are standing by to buy his books"!

But he has changed the picture on his own web-site!

I hate to bring this up again...but any word on the new edition? I doubt it, but thought I'd throw myself to the wolves.

woody with a view - 4-22-2009 at 06:52 PM

i keep waiting for the JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE to do a reunion tour, everyone else is!!!!

redhilltown - 4-22-2009 at 11:14 PM

If no reunion tour, possibly a new location: "Punta Hendrix"? Near "Bahia de Strat"? The old almanac does have some whacky names!

burnrope - 5-2-2009 at 09:44 AM

I read that it's at the printers.

burnrope - 5-13-2009 at 06:28 PM

I need the new Almanac so I can find my way to San Buenaventura for some turtle soup.

Curt63 - 5-13-2009 at 07:13 PM

I spoke with Discover Baja yesterday and they told me it would be available in August

Udo - 5-13-2009 at 08:23 PM

I'll believe it when I see it:yawn:

David K - 5-13-2009 at 09:28 PM

August??!! Where are they being printed, the Sudan?

ncampion - 5-14-2009 at 08:32 AM

Hope the new new one comes out soon, the old one is getting pretty pricey.

The word is still that Discover Baja 'MIGHT' have them for the Sept. 12 party... Any one up for a little bet on this?:o:light::lol:

bajabound2005 - 8-27-2009 at 09:08 PM

sure! I'll bet NOT.

DianaT - 8-27-2009 at 09:25 PM

I am beginning to think that the rumor of a possible new Baja Almanac is one of those urban legends.

The masking tape holding our old one together is beginning to crack and needs to be retired.!

Pappy Jon - 8-31-2009 at 07:02 PM

As long as they come out before my next trip in March. The two copies I do have (field copy and house copy) are tattered and coming apart.

Go0d Job... those are the FIRST Baja Almanacs from about 1998... The next edition (in 2003) had all of Baja in one book and the maps had more colors for topography.

Before the 'Almanacs', Landon produced 2 editions of the 'Baja Topographic Atlas Directory' (1986 & 1991)... They where HUGE with much more detail.

bajalou - 10-31-2009 at 12:21 PM

Reading Kats Korner at "the Net" -San Felipe website and she says that the San Felipe Book store now has the NEW Baja Almanac available. Haven't confirmed with Ed or Cat at the store but maybe it's finally available.

David K - 10-31-2009 at 03:33 PM

Baja Crawler just started a new thread with the same title as this one... and said he just bought a copy... it is bigger in size than the 2003 edition.

Thanks Lou...
