ENSENADA – Gunmen shot at a municipal police station early Thursday, the second such assault against police this week, according to the Baja California Attorney General's Office.

No injuries were reported during the 6 a.m. attack in the Loma Linda neighborhood, just south of downtown Ensenada. Two vehicles, including one patrol car, were damaged and bullet holes were found on the outside of the building, according to the Attorney General's Office.

Nearby, authorities found an abandoned Toyota Camry containing seven shell casings likely from an automatic rifle, two ski masks and a pair of gloves.

Early Monday, gunmen fired more than 200 rounds at a police station in La Mision, about a half hour north of downtown Ensenada. No injuries were reported in that assault.

Authorities do not have a motive, but believe the attacks may have been in retaliation for the arrest of Santiago Meza Lopez, 45. He has confessed to dissolving more than 300 bodies for a drug cartel and was arrested last week near Ensenada, according to the Mexican federal Attorney General's Office.

Sounds more like intimidation than meaningless pay-back. The police are under siege. "Cooperate or face the consequences."

Ken Cooke said, before the last police station assault, things had seemingly quieted down in cartel related activities. Havn't heard from him with a current events report since. Maybe it isn't in line with his apologist agenda. He still thinks, or wants others to think, that the place is a safe zone.

Ken? Share your today's opinion with us, please.

I have often wondered what Ken's motivation is about

Or maybe he actually believes himself

Just drove down 9th street and saw that construction is going on in front of the police station. There had been many large windows in front which are being replaced by a new block facade. I wonder why?

Follow the lead of cops in So. Central

I have made this suggestion before re: Rosarito. You have 5-6 streets in and out of the town. Each should have a 24/7 check point. Hugo Torres has the cash with his “100%” occupancy rate and could buy a nice Huey Chopper with high intensity light and a 50cal machine gun.

Ditto for Ensenada except maybe a pair. When these events occur especially in the early a.m. The chopper could be in the air in minutes. Not a lot of cars roaming around and co-ordinated with ground patrol army, federales, etc, these guys might think twice.

That construction on the 9th Street Police Station started a few weeks ago.
