Strange Google search happenings

Hook - 1-31-2009 at 08:20 AM

This AM, all searches I do on Google warn me that every site it "may harm my computer". When I click on the google link to investigate, I get a "server error" from google.

Anyone else getting this?

Nope. Anything change on your anti-virus/spyware software????

Happened to me same as Hook on every single search but now it's gone. I guess it was a google thing. Used msn and yahoo and all was ok.

Just for a brief period of time.

It's a warning message they have for sites they've determined in someway have malware. They've had it for awhile now. But somehow everything for a few minutes this morning was tagged with that warning.

Looks like it's back to "normal" at this point, at least for me...

For a minute there I thought I was going crazy. I did everything but throw the kitchen sink at the problem. Then poof the problem disappeared. Weird!

It was happening earlier on every search result but seems to be fixed. Even if you tried clicking through googles message you couldn't access the site. Interesting though that you COULD access the same site through their Google Ad if they had one.

Personally I think someone slipped at Google and accidentally gave us a preview of their future plans for an unfriendly takeover of the internet...

Same thing happened to me this morning while I was researching "incressed suicide rates in US soldiers in Iraq"

Every entry for pages and pages had that warning under it.

I finally was able to go throught Reuters and get the story.

I thought maybe the gov't was using this as a censuring tactic

Who knows? If hackers can get into so many supposedly secure sites, maybe some genuis just 'jacked Google.

Mtndewtime - 1-31-2009 at 01:28 PM

Just think how indispensible Google has become to everyday life. Kinda scary.
