needair - 2-4-2009 at 12:34 PM

first time poster here. does anyone know where to get specialty items in La Paz like tahini (sesame seed spread- middle eastern origin usually) and coconut oil (organic unrefined). I am headed there tomorrow (the 5th of feb.) thanks

If it's in La Paz, it'd be at CCC. There's a smallish International foods/condiments area in both stores that'd be the most likely location to start your search....but also check the oil section & possibly the refrigerated cases for the spread. It's common here to find imported stuff in really strange locations because the employees aren't familiar with something, so put it in what seems to be best fit to them; it can be comical at times & other times wrong, but understandable. If all else fails...ask.

There are some "natural/organic" stores around town that may or may not have these things as well.

Can't speak for La Paz, but I remember when Aramburo had the monopoly in Cabo he carried a great deal of imported, albeit overpriced stuff.

in La Paz I would try Sapore on Abasolo.
