my husband and i just returned to Baja from a mainland vaca in our motorhome. we wanted to turn in the car-import paperwork and hologram windshield
sticker to the Banjercito office at the La Paz ferry terminal (where we bought it 7 weeks ago to take the motorhome on the ferry over to Topolobampo)
because we are going to sell this motorhome in the U.S. this summer. however, the Banjercito staffer told us that they could not accept the paperwork
& sticker back at that office, and that we must turn it into the Banjercito office at the U.S. border in Tijuana or Otay or Mexicali when we leave
Mexico. Has anyone turned this stuff in to Banjercito at the Otay crossing? Advice or suggestions welcomed.barneyb - 2-7-2009 at 04:52 PM
I never turned in mine a few years ago.

Congratulations on your short-term thinking. You have avoided the charges but will likely not be allowed to take a vehicle into the mainland again.

Actually I knew this was a one-time event and that I would not be taking another vehicle onto the mainland. I doubt they would withhold the permit if
I tried to get one again anyway. Judging by my experience at the TJ office in 04 I don't think their "system" was that sophisticated. If it was I'm
sure TJs finest would have said something about it when I was pulled over multiple times during my last 5 years of living there. I left the permit
sticker on my vehicle for 3 years after it had expired before I pulled it off.
One thing I won't do is use a credit card in Mexico again. I was not going to give them $400 in lieu of the credit card or whatever the amount is now

I tried to return mine in Tecate 2 years ago and they don't do it there any more. Have to go to TJ. I tried taking the sticker off the window on the

We did turn our sticker in at the Banjercito in Tijuana and it was scraped off and we were deleted from the Mexican computer. We were give a copy of
the computer printout that deleted us and told to keep it in the car as evidence that we returned the sticker. Banjercito is close to the border and
we pulled up doubleparking and several folks came out ant took care of us. Total time was 5 minutes. We got the sticker in Nogales and returned to
the US via Tijuana (took the ferry from Mazatlan to La Paz). They had us in the computer even though we entered through Nogales.

I may be mistaken, but in the past, I've mailed it in after returning from the US (scraped off - was in pieces). There was an address with
instructions somewhere in the paperwork. If you never plan to drive that motorhome in the mainland again, you could also ignore turning it in.
