We just got back from a quickie trip to Mulege to get our girl doggies and cat spayed. We wanted to publicly extend our thanks to an amazing
woman...Saint Lorraine! I had no idea how incredible a person she was till I saw her in action at her outstanding clinic. We were really surprised at
the number of animals she and her dedicated volunteers see in a day...and in the night..and on days off...I salute you amiga...you are a saint in my
eyes. Keep up the good work and any nomads who can donate any pet supplies, meds, $$$ etc...this is a very deserving cause indeed.
I also want to say mil gracias to the gracious Mulegena for her assistance and all her volunteer work at the clinic as well. We were impressed with
Mick's new dive shop too...stop in and see his cool snake and other animals at his shop downtown.
Oh yeah and lets not forget Mulegemike for his organic veggie bag gift either....superb!DianaT - 2-12-2009 at 04:13 PM
That's great. I am sure life will be just a little easier not worrying about which dog will have puppies next and wondering who would adopt them!
Sure wish they could do a clinic in BA---too many puppies!!!

Shari, do you have her phone number?jorgie - 2-12-2009 at 04:45 PM
Lorraine needs a Paypal account to which I would give and give.......
hopefully, with other help, that would cover the cost of a trip to Asuncion...

Lorraine's Number in Mulege is 011-52-615-153-0589.
The amazing part of the story is that she retired, has had two hip replacements and continues to do what she does. What a wonderful person.shari - 2-15-2009 at 07:39 AM
I U2U'd her phone # in case she didnt want it "out there"....a paypal account would be terrific. So nice to meet a real live saint!Finaddict - 2-15-2009 at 08:20 AM
She also goes to rural areas yearly to hold a spay and neuter clinic. Over 100 animals are nuetered with a volunteer staff of many including 4 vets.Marla Daily - 2-15-2009 at 08:52 AM
Lorraine is indeed a saint! We would be happy to accept donations for her through our US non-profit, Terra Marine Research + Education [www.tmre.org].
Instant online contributions for Lorraine can be made through Guide Star [www.guidestar.org]. Just put TMRE in the search box and it will come up.
TMRE will give Lorraine 100% of whatever donations come in, and you will receive an acknowledgment for tax-deduction purposes in the US. She will
receive notification of your donation, and we will personally deliver the funds to Lorraine in Mulege.
TMRE raises funds and collects meds. and supplies for Animalandia, the spay/neuter clinic. in Loreto. We will gladly broaden our outreach to assist
Lorraine in Mulege so she is able to continue her good work. She has gone to San Juanico many times to perform surgeries, and has helped in Loreto as
well.
Happy to answer any questions.mulegemichael - 3-20-2009 at 07:52 PM

Mulege vets

Thank God for animal doctors in Baja. Indeed, Mulege in particular has been veterinarian-fortunate over the years. I can think of four vets that
have lived here and contributed much of thier precious retirement time to animal care.
Lorraine's dedication to her work and love of animals is a blessing we all greatly appreciate. She expertly spayed my lab, Cheyenne, a few years ago.
Mil gracias.

She has glued and sewed, my little dog GRUNT back together a few times and I shall always be great full to her.Iflyfish - 3-21-2009 at 08:56 AM
Pomp
I assume the spayed dog is on the left? Nice pic of you guys.
Iflyfishtoneart - 3-21-2009 at 10:18 AM
Lorraine is indeed a Saint Francis! She does a great service to the Mulege community. She also treats the gringo's animals on a donation basis. She
has treated my "Paco" for a few minor ailments this year. Her diagnostic skills are amazing, and she really zeros in on an effective course of
treatment.
i am not sure if she is aware that we are talking about her. I will email her to let her know.
Shari,
Sorry I missed you.Pompano - 3-21-2009 at 11:50 AM

So, Pompano. Those voices in your tackle box were almost whispering in soprano, eh?
You know what they say, "Women and cats rule!"

We need a St. Lorraine in El Centenario area. There are too many homeless dogs literally dying on the streets. The people just dump them pups on the
beach. Some survive some don't. The government couldn't care less and very few people care or do anything for them. These poor animals suffer a lot.Russ - 3-22-2009 at 06:12 AM
LOSARIPES --I thought you had Baja Dogs?????LOSARIPES - 3-22-2009 at 10:06 AM

I didn't know Lorraine was still there after the flood a couple of years ago. She is indeed a saint. She helped us so much when my Willie got so sick.
Bless her sweet soul!

Mi amigo and I just went to see her at the Oasis Park yesterday. We had a 13-year-old c-cker with a foot ailment and Lorraine took care of the
problem very competently. Please remember that her service is a donation-supported facility.
Here's her sign:
.
AND...while there, you can appreciate the nice bouganvilla outside.

Just saw Baja Dogs president on TV Ch. 4, La Paz, last week. They appeared to be busy and focused raising funds for their cause. I hope that
translates into better service in the community, for dogs, of course.
They refused to disclose their clinic address when asked , for some reason...Pompano - 3-30-2009 at 06:21 AM

Mulegena,
I couldn't agree more. (My ealiest nightmare involves a witch on a broom)
Cats are just small women in fur coats.
Get rid of your cat. And no, it's not different, it's just like every other cat.
Women will NEVER learn that dogs are better than cats.

"Women will NEVER learn that dogs are better than cats."
"Cats are just small women in fur coats."
Better at what? Does this make women stupider than cats cause they can't figure out what cats already know? Slippery slope amigo! I await the flying
of fur.

I can't count the unintended corners I have gone around in my lifetime chasing gato, perro that I am. They should have hauled me off to a clinic
