For those who live in the San Diego/TJ area and like to visit Ensenada, here's something a bit different. We got on the old road in Rosarito and took
it into Ensenada. It curves to the east at the La Mision beach settlement and continues through a valley through the town of La Mision, up to a
plateau and then down into Ensenada, where it meets the toll road somewhat south of the last toll booth.
It's a well paved, little used two lane road through some very scenic country. True, the toll road has some dramatic vistas going into Ensenada, this
route is just a different way, with some pretty countryside. The hill sides are a vibrant green and it's a very mellow drive. There's also a well
marked turn off about half way that goes into the wine country.
On the way back (same route) we drove through Puerto Nuevo about 4 PM and I noticed that the parking lots were filling up, and lots of people walking
around, no doubt with lobster dinner eaters.
Rosarito was also busy and the shops along the old highway selling pottery and other Mexican curios all had some customers looking around. I was happy
to see the merchants having a good day.

The merchants in Rosarito always have a smile on their face when my wife starts shopping

Two trip reports in one day? New nomad record since September. Thanks K-Rico and Cat. I'm a big fan of free road and my neighbors still poke fun at
me for using it almost excusively when I head to/fro USA.
