When we traveled thru in Nov 08 the rate was $87.00 US Dollars. Rooms
are not the cleanest, no mattress pads, etc.(Margaritas were $8.00!!!) Try the San Ingnacio Yurts. Great place, great food, great hosts. Very reasonable for what you get. I do not have the email, maybe another nomad has email or phone. But Rice and Beans....well, there are better choice as far as rooms go.

Lots of people like Rice and Beans, but we have always been very disappointed with what you get for a room for the price, and the food.

We stay down town at a cheap, clean and very basic place, Hotel Posada. Yes, the rooms are very basic, but they are cheap.

We have also heard good reviews for the other rather new place on the highway just south of the town. Sorry, hope someone remembers the name of that place.

Again, some rave about the service and the food at Rice and Beans----lots of difference of opinions and tastes. The food is VERY gringo with hot sauce about as hot as catsup. We refer to it as a mild expensive taco bell.

I've never stayed there, but only because I really love to stay at the historic Casa Leree near the plaza. But I did have a great breakfast there once, and it would be my fallback in San Ignacio.

Can't believe those prices for Ricardo's. Does he think there's no competition? I've stayed there before. Was a little disappointed in the room, but walking out the door right into the cantina was nice. Gee. Even for the less adventurous, the Desert Inn there totally remodeled their rooms last year. Right now a double is $80, and after Mar 15, $70. I guess they got tired of changing the bedlinen out there by the highway.

I would say half of the guests here (at Ignacio Springs) stayed in another motel/hotel here in the past 2 nights and then found this place...and moved. And the food is to die for.

You can always sleep in your car at Rice and Beans -comes with internet and its free.

I have read great things about the food at Ignacio Springs. I don't like making reservations that control how far I have to drive and they only have a few rooms. seriously will check them out next month.

Do they serve lunch and dinner as well as breakfast at Ignacio Springs? I have only heard people talk of the great breakfasts.

Can't account for the margarita prices, although they do serve large and potent ones, but it would appear that Ricardo is trying to take advantage of the season. Just about every bus tour I know, whales or otherwise, puts their customers in the Desert Inns. Since each Desert Inn has somewhere around three dozen rooms or less, a couple of busses will fill the place up. In checking the Desert Inn web site for availabilty, there is none for the rest of February, and seven scattered days throughout March are available. If Ricardo knows the Desert Inn is full, he becomes a visible option.

The dinners at Ignacio Springs are excellent. Be sure to make a reservation for dinner when you reserve your room.
