Camalu Hotel question?

I saw a hotel located on a cliff with a beauitful view of the beach/ocean. Looked like it had a resturant. Anyone have any information?

You might be referring to the Pirates Cove. It's on a cliff and has a retaurant that's pretty good. If you use the search feature on this site you'll find several postings about the Pirates Cove, assuming it's the place your referring to.

At the stop light, a dirt road takes you 2 miles west to the beach and a unique restaurant and hotel, Cueva de Pirata (Pirate's Cove), on a bluff above the ocean. The hotel has a glass wall and patio that overlooks the beach and mountains, and serves wonderful seafood entrees at a reasonable price.

It is owned by the couple who run the local fish factory. Food, and view are fabulous. dining room beautiful. But the rooms, although a real bargain at 360 pesos, are depressing. But I would seriously encourage the curious to grab a meal here. It's only 3km of the main road. Ask to check out a room, and make your own decision.

Beautiful restaurant, good food although I found the serving small. Great place to sit on the patio with a beer or two+. I wonder about the ambition of the owners, looking at the 1/2 completed swimming pool with already dead palms planted around it. Things probably have changed since my last visit.

Doug- That link is to a page that is like 5 years old. But, I think it does compliment my post. The rooms are semi-attrocious. Great place for those who are self-contained. Eat and drink hearty. Enjoy the view, and retire to your RV.

WHAT? Or you could continue south..or north depending on which way you are headed and go to Baja Cactus in El Rosario...which for 350 pesos you have what would be considered a LUXURY room in Mexico or the US. We were there last week along with 2 couples that have not been south of Ensenada. I told them to just book a room at the Cactus and we'll meet you for dinner. We all met up at the hotel and they were in AWE at how NICE the rooms were....especially for that small amount. Kudos to Antonio for providing us with great lodging (and they will accept your pet!) at such a great price. Granted, El Rosario is not a destination but it's a great stopover for the night.

It could be a destination... there is a ton to see or do in the area around El Rosario!:

Most do... a sharp turn, the last reliable gas station for hundreds of miles, and Mama Espinoza's was "El Rosario".

Then, in 2004 Antonio Muņoz joined Baja Nomad, and all that changed!

In Nov. 2004, Antonio and I traveled together to his new Baja Cactus Motel and while he was installing the new TVs that came down in a truck, that followed us... My Wife and I ate at La Cueva de Pirata yesterday! Agree the view is spectacular of the bay and the volcanoes of SQ in the distance. The food though was ok, fairly plain, but nothing too fancy. Prices on the high side, did'nt look at one of the rooms (400 pesos) place did look a little neglected.
Worth a visit just for the view and some drinks/botanas
