i'm buying a used vehicle today from a dealer and i don't think it has plates. will this be a problem getting mexi-insurance, crossing the border (both directions), or running the gauntlet without plates before the plates arrive in the mail? it will have temp registration on the windshield.

suggestions before next weekend needed......

I didn't have a problem in 1992 with my new Toyota, but that's been a while...

You should not have a problem as long as you are displaying the ROS paper on the windshield.

Now, if you really want to be safe I hear there is a person in Ensenada that can provide you with plates ;D

Three days ago, I picked up my new Jeep in San Diego and went right through. No problem but, I didn't anticipate any.

Shouldn't be a problem at all - I've done it and had no problems. Getting insurance is easy as long as you have a VIN. Paper plates don't matter.

I just have to get them to the mail-lady to take north. Pronto, as they say.

I got a Wrangler Sahara. All the bells and whistles. Soft top .......that's the way it was. It's so impractical but, I'm reaching the age when practicality doesn't mean much. It's just a toy. Well, I'm building a garage by my house so I needed something to put in it. Not sure what I paid for it. I'll open that envelope and read all that stuff soon. Good thing is I bought it on a four year note, zero interest. How can you say no to that?

Hey, Dennis....part of your stimulus package????? sounds great....what color???

DENNIS - 2-28-2009 at 01:58 PM

Negro. With cars, that means black...not brown.

No worries Woody... Here is my Tacoma at La Bocana Beach, El Rosario, the day after I picked it up from Toyota Carlsbad, brand new... Crossed into Mexico about 2 hours after I got it!

Discover Baja edited my annual insurance policy to show the new truck vin # and 'no plates'... that afternoon... and was nice enough to tape it to the door for me, as I arrived after they closed.
